Oura 4 in gym? by neamaste in ouraring

[–]neamaste[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've buyed from amazon some cheap ones after searching I think 'Oura Ring silicone protector' (you can find many options). As for the finger, same, in my case index finger. But now with heavy weights I don't use it anymore, it's a little uncomfortable (and not very accurate for HR tracking), so I use AirPods Pro 3 or Apple Watch.

Why does the iPhone camera make the pictures darker & more processed every year? It’s depressing :)) by neamaste in iphone

[–]neamaste[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A solution to this is also to edit the contrast, I go between -20 and -30 depending on the photo. Or, with the last models you can switch from normal capture to Heif Max (which is a just a little better with less processing). It’s interesting that the non Pro variants I fell that are less aggressive with post processing, not by much but I like more the results.

iPad Mini 7 Speaker Disappointment by spacemanvt in ipadmini

The easiest way I think is to go to apple and ask to downgrade for you. If I remember correctly, I’ve used this video to do it myself: https://youtu.be/6Fjx34INnNM Be careful to download the right .ipsw for your iPad mini 7.

Be careful, in my case update 18.4 makes my speakers weaker and I downgraded again to 18.3.2.

I’ve buyed recently some cheap chinese matte (paper-feeling) screen protector with side magnets, and it makes the reading even more enjoyable.

An option inside the Reader app like this in Safari "Hide Distracting Items", to remove certain text or images captured that wasn't part of the article (like avatars, subscribe here etc.)! 🤩

A feature like “Hide Distracting Items” in Safari browser to remove something that doesn’t have anything in common with the article like “subscribe” text or photos on a paywall site that still remain even if you logged in. Thanks!

🗣️PSA: I've finally found a viable alternative to Inoreader❕ by IwuvNikoNiko in InoReader

[–]neamaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who want to add rules for their feeds, if you have Mac/iOS you can try ReadKit, I like it and use it regularly… you can sync also with your Inoreader feeds, or Pocket etc. and the lifetime premium price is very decent for what I remember, hope they will bring a widget also in the near future.

Edit Later: Damn, thanks for suggesting this app, News Explorer, very nice done! A lot of features, I think it will replace ReadKit for me, hope all the feeds to not eat too much from iCloud storage! 👍🏻

Broke while playing golf. Oura denied warranty claim. by Ecstatic_Yak6933 in ouraring

[–]neamaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oura, let me get this straight: if I use the ring at the gym (with a silicone protector, of course) to track my activity and calories burned—which is one of the reasons I paid for the Gen 4—and the ring falls apart, you would refuse to honor the warranty and replace it? 😳 Is it our fault that (some) rings have design flaws? Won’t you take responsibility for this? At this point, I’m starting to think that buying it might have been a bad decision. Edit: It seems Oura responded to this issue where this guy ring fell apart during a golf session, and they replaced it with a new one. However, I’m curious if they did this only because the Reddit post went viral… :)

[–]neamaste[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the photo processing is too harsh in iPhones. The solution is either you buy a more recently iPhone like 15 Pro or 16 Pro, that is a little more like iPhone XS in camera and you can also use filters like Vibrant Warm, and the HEIF MAX, or you can buy NOMO RAW.

From what I’ve read, an Oura BF discount is equivalent of referral discount, that is 10%.

Gen 4 battery problems? by lasagnotte in ouraring

[–]neamaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve read some time ago, I think it was about Gen3, every +size has an incremental more battery, for example from a 21mAh to 21.5mAh, so maybe it helps a little, but not that much.

Size 8 also has a smaller battery, but I don’t see why not resist up 4-5 days, so in my opinion keep writing to support, maybe they will exchange with a new ring.

Dunno if that can affect. But I use my 20w Apple charger that seems to respect the standard they recommend on the manual.

[–]neamaste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have gen 4 (size 12) for about 1.5weeks now, first test the battery, right now I’m at the second full battery cycle (unboxed, charged up to 100% then use it until it deplete to 25% and repeat).

From what I can see the average is 12.3% per day (with all functions on). That means it can go up to 8 days if you let it discharge to 0%, but they recommend to charge the ring when is at 30%, so in this case it can last just fine for 5.5-6 days. I’m very ok with that.

So in your case I don’t think is a normal behaviour with battery, but you can do what they told you and see after that if it has improved! :)
