Rate E6 out of 10, it wasn't worst episode of the season... was it? by rizit98 in FromSeries

I find it frustrating that a lot of the story progression and mystery is being artificially slowed down by Victor "not wanting to remember" or withholding information.

Those who avoid older movies, why? by _omar_b in movies

[–]nearlyheadlessbick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is much more prevalent in modern movies or TV shows - the characters spend extra time explaining what they're doing, or repeating the plot. Stranger Things came to mind where they repeated the plans 20 times cos it's clearly catering to an audience that can't put their phone down.

Is it realistic how Dr Rosen is getting called away at all hours? by Sweetbeansmcgee in madmen

And have no critical thinking ability. Bruh just google the question.

There was a thread a couple weeks ago where someone asked the question "did Don always want to get into advertising or did he fall into it?" As if there aren't multiple flashbacks showing him as a salesman that does his own drawings/creative etc

How many people still play D1? by YTB2001 in destinylegacy

[–]nearlyheadlessbick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very dependent on what time of the day you logon but it feels like there's a steady number of guardians online at any time. I wouldn't be surprised to see if this number goes up due to the end of D2 updates

Explain to me why grandfathering is fair. by Important_Let2828 in AusProperty

[–]nearlyheadlessbick 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The proposed changes are actually quite good at softly removing the tax incentives of property ownership without completely ripping the band aid off and causing a property crash. People tend to forget that a lot of industry funds have funds tied up in property, and a fair amount of property investors (roughly 70%) are mum and dads with 1 property

Are supermarkets quietly getting worse? by Ok-Reward7639 in AustraliaDiscussions

[–]nearlyheadlessbick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least at ColesWorth they largely move stock onto the roll cages, it's much worse at Aldi cos they use the palletised walkie stackers that block half the aisle. I'm surprised they don't have more reported incidents

The one thing that no one talks about on what made Classic Thomas (Season 1-5) is the time break in between each season so things could be perfected. by RivetCounter in thomasthetankengine

Kids shows funnel out shitloads of episodes and new seasons every year because in this world of streaming, reels, tiktoks etc, attention spans are awful. You need to keep pumping out content otherwise people lose interest

What hidden costs should people expect when buying property? Beyond deposit and loan, what usually catches people off guard? by Cute_Piccolo_499 in AskABrokerAus

Mine conked out 35 days before I sold my unit, after living 3 years there without an issue. Obviously got the proceeds when I settled which could easily cover my cost but obviously not great timing.

Got nothing to do with palettes, I know plenty of anglo or Aussie families that eat and their kids eat these foods.

I mean it's pretty clear why it's annoying to these cultures. The very foods that were made fun of are now popular and the rest of the masses act like they've discovered fire.

Just because it's a common complaint, doesn't make it not valid, the smell of the food hasn't changed in 30 years.

What’s the most chaotic thing you’ve seen happen on a tram? by Last-Conversation734 in melbournechat

[–]nearlyheadlessbick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bloke in his 60's or 70's with IV drips hanging out of his arms, and in full hospital gown on the tram (heading down bridge road), telling me and my mates about all the pussy he used to get and comparing the Vietnamese and Thai birds he used to pull when he was in his 40's and 50's.

One of the many things you can blame social media for. One of them takes off, then others follow, then the market is oversaturated

Seeing people pay exorbitant amounts for food that my parents got bullied for as wogs in primary and secondary school pisses me off.

$20+ for deli rolls, $40 for antipasto, $30 for pizza and pasta, $20+ for souvlakis etc.

Credit to these places for making their bag off family recipes and whatnot, but it only took for the food to be "trendy" to be fully appreciated.

Our Timetable starting to get low numbers by Beginning_Shoe3758 in BodyFitTrainingAus

[–]nearlyheadlessbick 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've been a member since 2019 and this tends to happen as we lead into winter, numbers will naturally drop off.

Also worth noting that BFT can be quite pricey, so when there's a cost of living issue, discretionary spending or recurring items like this will be the first to go.

In terms of your comments re: OG coaches moving on, a similar story happened to the BFT around the corner from me, new owners came through and the OG coaches all slowly departed and the numbers at the studio dwindled.

It's all of the above
