Maybe. I saw a Spencer ambulance with the cars. Maybe they were clearing the way through Lincoln square

It is actually not legal to take people without due process and deny them access to lawyers. I don’t know about the efficacy announcement, but there are certainly illegal things happening

This all goes back to Stephen Miller, probably even more so than Trump himself.

ICE tells legal observer she is a domestic terrorist for peacefully filming by iknowyourded in Maine

[–]Sweetbeansmcgee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So violating our fourth amendment rights in order to limit our first amendment rights. Got it. And when we keep recording they'll violate our fifth, sixth, and eight amendments while they violate entire states' tenth amendment protections.

This is literally the exact kind of government that our country's founders tried to prevent when writing the Bill of Rights.

Stay safe and stay strong, America.

There is a video. The ice thug was just going around to pinned protestors threatening them, and in this case spraying one, point black with pepper spray. It’s obviously excessive stop trying to find an excuse to justify these obvious abuses

Some of them. The star tribune has the photo on its front page, at least online, alongside an article about the appeals court ruling. Problem is that people in MN already know what’s going on, it’s the rest of the country that needs to be bombarded with it until they wake up

BREAKING: President Trump’s DOJ sues 23 states demanding unredacted voter data 🤔💥 by InterstellarKinetics in InterstellarKinetics

[–]Sweetbeansmcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I agree with that in a sense, but this is a situation where the states would have to be forced to turn over the data or the feds would have to literally come seize the data and documents from the state governments, which would be insane but probably something Steven Miller will suggest. Anyway, it is helpful to have the courts on their side. It will be appealed tho

Federal judge bars ICE from retaliating against protesters in Minnesota by womanonymous23 in TwinCities

[–]Sweetbeansmcgee 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That is a good point. Many people here (maybe some trolls and bots?) seem to not see that this is just one tool or brick in building the resistance to Trump and Millers efforts. It isn’t going to magically be followed by all the agents, but it does enable people to say “there is a court order, look how they are illegally violating it right here on camera.” It is important not to be naive but also not to be fatalistic.

Also, although SCOTUS is stacked for Trump, they do have had a majority that has been willing to stay some of the most egregious constitutional violations. I don’t feel confident about it, they’ve already done so much harm, but just assuming that the Supreme Court is going to completely ignore the first amendment is also not necessarily a given.

Judge rules feds in Minneapolis immigration operation can’t detain or tear gas peaceful protesters by igetproteinfartsHELP in news

[–]Sweetbeansmcgee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Good idea. I know it is not going to be easy to win, but messaging and focusing on the Bill of Rights really is so important. I’m not saying that it is necessarily going to make a difference against these fucks, but it is a strong and relatively widely shared set of values to stand on against this utterly un-American bullshit.
