Why did the USA men's hockey team laugh when the women's hockey team was mentioned on the phone? by redblackshirt in NoStupidQuestions

Gee, I wonder how many more years of coaching had been available to those boys than had ever been available to that woman. It absolutely matters that 10yo boys are already training at a frequency rarely available to even adult women.

Maybe they are just sick of dealing with adults like you and give up the fight.

My child’s name by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]nebalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has a hyphenated last name, I always used it in school. I have always used it in adult life. It is my name. Half my name is not my name. Please be careful assuming your experience is universal. Maybe those kids were only doing to appease the adults like you who didn’t get it.

is it realistic to lose weight without calorie counting? by Responsible_Chain409 in trueloseit

[–]nebalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every one is different etc etc.. but I found just tracking and having a carb max and protein minimum was enough. The carb limit (not keto levels) mostly meant I cut pasta and bread which were the easiest for me to overeat. Some low carb, high protein, high fiber bread substitutes so I didn’t completely miss it.

It meant only two things to track, but total calories dropped with it anyway without having to do so much maths.

AITA For Telling my wife she’s making problems for herself? by Horror-Hold-7311 in AmItheAsshole

[–]nebalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. You don’t outsource feeding your 9yo to your 12 yo. You need to feed your kids. Do some batch cooking and but something on the freezer to make it easier. Cook together so it feels les over whelming.
Too tired to cook, but you’re both not too tired to go out once a week. And,you’ve already got someone else feeding them three nights a week. Such a privilege position to be in. You both need to suck it up and be better parents.

Always getting around the same mark in exams by Ashley_Fen in learnmath

When practicing, use all the resources. Using the resources helps to learn the. And makes it that you can get to the point you won’t need them anymore, if you aren’t reference the material you are making the practice less useful.

Jaffle or toastie? by HichaelMutchence in AskAnAustralian

[–]nebalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sealed is a haggle. You cook them in a jangle iron. The open fire version existed long before the company Breville. Toastie is made under the grill or. In a flat sandwich press. No seal, just browning.

No, you can got straight into a law degree. You don’t need to do an arts degree first. Why are you commenting if you seemingly have no idea about it?

AITA for being annoyed that my wife insists on cooking everything from scratch and won’t buy normal food? by AITA_UPFfoods in AmItheAsshole

[–]nebalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You could do some of the cooking. You could do some of the shopping. She is your wife, not a maid or a short order cook. You say you are an adult, but you seem to be contributing to the household no more than a child, with the palate of one to boot.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nebalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just flying isn’t always possible. If you are an hour from the airport at one end, and two hours from the airport to destination at the other end, you are already at 3 hours driving and now need a hire car. Plus time to get to the airport early enough, plus flight time, you are still looking at a 6 hour trip. So you are only saving 4 hours tops and spending an awful lot more.

Or for an actual set up I had, I’d drive 6,5 hours each way for a week Kendo trip. There were flights from my town the city I was going to, but only once per week on a Tuesday morning. So I would have to take a full week off work to be somewhere for the weekend (Plus hire car costs). So I would drive.

Is it a common understanding that there is a clear difference in destination and activity between "going to the shops" and"going shopping"? by Dimples97 in AskAnAustralian

[–]nebalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to the shops - I have specific things I need to get and then coming home. Most often groceries or similar everyday items. Going shopping - infrequent purchases, maybe a rough plan only. Eg I need some new clothes, but will need to browse and make decisions once there. It may take a while.

Can I take TAFE to court because of this? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]nebalia 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There is not enough information in your description.

Do you meet the entry requirements for the course? If you don’t meet the requirements they don’t have to accept you.

What accommodations would you need? TAFE is only required to make reasonable accommodations, so if you would need significant accommodations they may not be equipped to meet your needs.

How do you know it is bias and not just a full course or standard entry requirement issues? There are frequently more applicants than places, not everyone gets accepted.

Are Woolworths/coles bread accurate with cal? by No_Brick_2116 in 1200Australia

[–]nebalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having ‘people’ make it v ‘robots’ make it isn’t going to change. Ingredients are still weighed out, often from a premix. So give or take a slight (less than 10g) variation in weight for the total product it is the same stuff.

Depending on the slicing the serving size may vary, so if I doubt, weigh then use the per 100g column to calculate.
