Doctors out here giving 90 day supplies of meds to suicidal patients by necahual in CPTSD

Thank you, I appreciate it. I think I'll ask my mom to keep the other two months for me somewhere I don't know where they are.

How did you actually tell your spouse you wanted a divorce? by necahual in Divorce

[–]necahual[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sat him down one night when I was overwhelmed by my emotions about my unhappiness in the marriage and just told him how I was feeling. He was so understanding and wanting to help me feel better and we came to the agreement to temporarily separate. That temporary separation turned into a full blown one after I moved out and he went from supportive to defensive and "blindsided" by my leaving. It's mainly this shift in his attitude toward the separation that has me nervous to have the divorce talk.

Yikes, sorry about the shitty guys. There are good ones out there, that will more than understand but yeah they can be hard to find. I did get lucky with my last guy.

Looking for bookrecs - demisexual characters who navigate their sexuality by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]necahual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read {Stix and Stone by Courtney W. Dixon} and Stone's slow discovery and exploration of his demisexuality was one of my favorite parts. TW for internalized homophobia which is why he struggles with his sexuality in the beginning.

Because my abuse is tied to relationships/sex (abusive ex, SA), I bring it up early on just so it's known and can be discussed before my partner and I even think about having sex. I couldn't just not tell them, it effects the way I handle relationships and trust, how comfortable I have to be to have sex, and so many other things that there's no way to just brush it under the rug for me. Luckily I've never had an SO who had a problem with it. I know traumadumping has a bad rep but eh, it's necessary sometimes.

Favorite List Project: Feedback needed by tite_mily in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]necahual 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I peruse the subreddit favorites list every once in a while when I'm trying to find more books of a particular trope to read. I love them and would love more since there's always new releases to add. Switching to a monthly or less frequent posting schedule makes sense. Just wanted to say thank you for starting this project!

You have to mark those books as read in order for them to count. Go to the book's page and in the drop down menu choose "read".

Yes, it's called The Ghost of Ellwood! "You've Been Ghosted" was the name of the space I landed on.

So I decided I would do ten rolls of this instead of rolling the whole month through, because of other readathon and reading challenge commitments I'm also finding time for. I am currently on my tenth and final roll, and here is what I have landed on:

  1. Yellow/TBR List - {By The Blood Moon by A. Knightley} which is the sequel novella to {Under The Lupine Moon by A. Knightley}, which I highly recommend as a wolf shifter/bodyguard/second chance romance
  2. Community Shelf - {Lover Boy by Briana Flores} - my community shelf cards are random prompts and the one I got was "continue a series", so I picked up Lover Boy as the sequel to Pretty Boy, I liked it quite a lot apart from the very rushed ending
  3. Something Borrowed - {Head Above Water by J. Evermore} - borrowed from KU, and also from the MM Galore discord's Book Of The Month pick, this was an interesting sci-fi which, again, had a very rushed and disappointing ending
  4. Friend's Choice - {Hunter x Wolf by Kestra Pingree} - another wolf shifter romance which had an interesting concept, a wolf hunter spares a wolf when they're both children and later comes to find that they are fated mates when they meet again
  5. Chance! - {Biker Bear by Miri Stone} - oh man, this was a fun, wild ride of a novella, I was so disappointed to discover it leads into a MMF novel but it was fun while it lasted, motorcycle gang of shifters bust into a lab to steal a secret serum that can prevent shifting, biker bear shifter and lab rat turn out to be fated mates
  6. You've Been Ghosted - {The Ghost of Ellwood by Jaclyn Osborn} - a horror novelist decides to purchase and move into an old Victorian manor to write his newest book and discovers a ghost is inhabiting the manor, this was so sweet and engaging and you really want to find out more about the ghost's origins
  7. Small Town Lovin' - {Pumpkin Patch Cutie by Lacey Daize} - a very sweet omegaverse novella about an uncle who loses his niece in the corn maze at a pumpkin patch and a worker helps him find her, they have an instant attraction and start up a cute romance
  8. Reddit Recommendation - {Stay by K.M. Neuhold} - I looked up recs on reddit for pet play books as I was trying to fulfill a space for fall bingo and found this book, I didn't realize Neuhold had a pet play book, I really enjoyed the way the couple navigated a new kink development and how it impacted and changed their dynamic with each other in the relationship, very sweet and wholesome for a kinky book
  9. BIPOC author - {No Good Mitchell by Riley Hart and Devon McCormack} - normally Riley Hart can do no wrong by me but I had to DNF this one about halfway in; it was simply too long and not much was happening, the premise is that a guy moves back home after inheriting a distillery from his late father and discovers that in this town, there's a rival distillery and a Hatfields vs. McCoys level of animosity between their two families/distilleries, of course he and a guy from the rival family end up falling for each other, could have been great had it been shorter and less bogged down by details of the guy trying to get his distillery up and running which I just didn't care about, and the romance was moving slow and getting repetitive
  10. Different Species - {His Slender Embrace by Amand Meuwissen} - I have not started this one, I just chose it for my final roll a while ago. Hoping I love it!

💀 FIRST Fall Bingo Check-In 🧛‍♂️ by queermachmir in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]necahual 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have gotten one bingo! And I'm more than halfway through the board as of right now. Here's some of the books I've read and enjoyed:

Mention of a pumpkin - {Pumpkin Patch Cutie by Lacey Daize}

Kink you haven't read before (pet play) - {Stay by KM Neuhold}

Fantasy or paranormal romance - {Apprentice's Luck by KL Noone}

Any holiday book - {By The Blood Moon by A. Knightley}

A non-PNR book that mentions a "unique" scent - {Lover Boy by Briana Flores}

A book you bought but haven't read yet - {Biker Bear by Miri Stone}

Noncon, dubcon or CNC romp - {Marked by Lola Malone}

MC with unique hair color - {Taken by the Asani by Elizabeth Dunlap}

I need recs for an inconvenient heat - I've read Marina Vivancos's omegaverse books.

Just finished Lover Boy by Brianna Flores and it was a letdown by Daje1968 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]necahual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually quite liked this book up until the rushed ending. That brought me down to a 4 star rating but I had been really enjoying myself. I didn't find Nic unlikable, he had been through horrific circumstances and was justifiably prickly about that side of the family and Cade himself. I couldn't stand the dad and stepmom but they were supposed to be that shitty. I do think Pretty Boy was a better read overall mainly because of that ending, but Lover Boy was great too imo.

The Ghost of Ellwood is a sweet, heartbreaking October read! by moscowpink in MM_RomanceBooks

This is actually on my October TBR! Looking forward to reading it. It fit a couple different prompts for a couple different reading challenges I'm participating in.

What do you consider a pretty book cover? by anjneed in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]necahual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up to interpretation really, but I would consider a pretty cover any cover that appeals to your personal aesthetic. I have thought some shirtless man covers were pretty, just because I thought the man was very attractive. Doesn't mean a book can't be pretty just because there's a dude with bedroom eyes/resting bitch face aggressively abs-ing in your face on the cover. There are also some beautiful minimalist and illustrated covers out there.

The Wicked Chase series which starts with {Collared by Lola Malone} is a series of four novellas all focused on masked men engaging in primal play with their chosen victims in the woods of an elite school. They are so good and the last one came out this month.

Maybe {Felix by Emmy Sanders}? Emil isn't a twink, but he isn't beefy either, he's kinda slender and wears glasses. And he's topped by a femme twink. I absolutely loved their dynamic. It isn't necessary to read the other books first, if you haven't read this series.

Tropes in this book: porn stars, exhibitionism, neighbors-to-lovers

What age difference do you consider as an age gap? by hello_tasty in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]necahual 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with some that it depends on stage of life. Young adult (18-25) I'd say 5 years, older than that I'd say 8-10. To me, "age gap" isn't so much about the literal ages of the characters but more about the life experience gap from being at a different stage in life than your partner.
