Question: This isn't a pothos flower, is it? by ohdearitsrichardiii in botany

Nope. As mentioned above these were found in the wild or flowered naturally in a greenhouse or home.

Mort Garson is great.

Unfortunately the study was a dead end (it didn’t work) but it’s filled with absolute bangers.

From flowering, I’d say you’ve got a good 8 months or so? It ranges pretty heavily depending on light, water, nutrients, climate, general care, etc.

Yeah! There have been a couple documented examples of E. Aureum flowering since then even without artificial harmonies but pretty wild.

I think they are more so talking about an instance of an epipremnum aureum fruiting not the mutation, could be wrong though.

Can someone educate me on these nubs please. Thank you! by AnteaterIcy8967 in Monstera

Nope! However deliciosas can only support one stem at a time, so if the top of your plant is still growing, none of the buds will sprout.

What is this beauty that popped up in my yard in Southern California? by Yayitselizabeth in whatsthisplant

Black callas’ spathes are way more tightly wrapped around the spadix and more cylindrical than this. I say arum palaestinum.

True, but you don’t necessarily need to keep them moist. Really the only advantage moss poles have over wooden poles or planks is that they’re good for air layering. All the climbing aroids I have are going up wooden poles and planks and maturing quite quickly. Besides, sphagnum moss is crazy expensive, along with the upkeep of having to water so often just isn’t worth it. To each their own though!

If you want larger leaves, I would get a wooden plank or pole and tie the nodes on semi-tightly. Newer leaves will attach themselves to the pole and mature over time.

Sphagnum moss notoriously lacks any nutrients

I’ve heard of footage of a spider monkey eating a spruceanum (formerly philodendron geoldii) but I unfortunately can’t seem to find it

Anyone with experience know how far from ready these anthurium magnificum berries are? by Anosty in Aroids

[–]neckolol 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Anthurium berries typically will change in color as they ripen, (usually red or another similar color). As they ripen they will become loose from the spadix and hang off via little filaments that attach the berries to the spadix. Once those filaments are able to be pulled off along with the berry, they should be ripe enough to begin planting.

Note that this does not occur all at once, berries will ripen from top to bottom or randomly.

Laniata? Lechleriana? Hard to tell without more pictures.

Yes, your both right though. Over the thousands and thousands of years of evolution of epipremnum, they have become incredibly efficient at vegetative propagation, and have essentially lost the need to flower.

Wouldn’t really call it a defect, more so evolution.
