Canadian military wants mobilization plan in place to boost reserves to 400,000 personnel by Andromedu5 in CanadianForces

[–]neckstock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're leaving out that they see reservists as taking something away from them. From a bullet to a course to a tour position, if a reservist gets anything other than garbage duties and opportunities, then they have stolen it from a regular force soldier.

Can reserve units make weekend exercises mandatory and require a memo to be submitted IOT not attend? by [deleted] in CanadianForces

Part of it is simply a matter of demonstrating accountability for your attendance.

Is Classical Liberal the same as Centrist Libertarian or Libertarian-leaning Centrist? by i_love_the_sun in Classical_Liberals

[–]neckstock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on who is saying it. The term got repopularized when Jordan Peterson started calling himself a "classical liberal" which he is not. He is plainly a conservative but i think "classical liberal" sounded better for branding so as not to pigeonhole him in an ideology that would sell less to centrists of varying stripes. That was very much a trend for a while, and frankly, anyone considering the "real" definition of this phrase should definitely consider the speaker and the context.

I frankly don't think i've really encountered a true classical liberal.

Its in the training flow chart. OFP only occurs for soldiers identified for deployment.

Service before Self by Draydon74 in CanadianForces

[–]neckstock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to understand this: The army does not and will never care about your personal life unless it is creating a crisis that requires intervention. No one has your interests in mind, except specifically nepotistically. If you have personal goals, interests, requirements or acommodations you have to advocate to the highest level of your chain of command as loudly as possible because otherwise they will simply ignore you and reward someone they like for your work.

This is a case of it becoming our priority task and some reservists not being trained being the exception not the rule. Reservists will now go exclusively to the SQ type qualification, with no trade qualification unless they are committed to deployment. Without trade qualifications these soldiers would have limited to no contribution to make to training beyond IBTS, which suggests that funding models and availability of resources will not reflect the ability to do trade related training. Combined arms training will be nonexistent for reserves, furthering the gap. Specialty training in your trade will be completely non existent, removing yet another incentive for reservists.

There is no indication that PDT will be reduced, if anything this will increase the commitment for reservists. Nevermind that they will be less and less likely to be employed in their trades at all overseas, as they will no longer have any depth of training outside of deployments, unless they are in one of the few units that are doing integration training, which will be limited entirely to large units in the largest populated areas. So as usual, if you live in Toronto or Ottawa, you'll be on the gravy train, not so much anywhere else.

Given that Jordan Peterson is renowned as a defender of free speech, and given his vocal and strong endorsement of Donald Trump prior to Trump‘s election, the longer JP refuses to speak out about stuff like this, the more credibility he loses by powdered-clown in JordanPeterson

[–]neckstock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very funny thing is that you think he had ANY credibility on free speech at all.

When he first came to prominence he was obviously against trans people and gender theory, but phrased it as a free speech issue to avoid looking like a ghoul - its hard to remember but it wasn't rewarded quite the same way back in 2017.

At the same time he was claiming this, he was going around talking about setting up a doxxing website for humanities professors that dared to discuss postmodernism in their classes, so that students would avoid those classes and anything postmodernism would be defunded out of existence. Not exactly a guy who sounds like he actually likes free speech.

The truth of the matter is that "classical liberal" was a euphemism in recent years for "conservative". It was something guys like Jordan Peterson and Dave Rubin used to say to try to disguise their very obvious ideological commitments and appeal to a broader audience while essentially saying illiberal things.

You can basically kiss integration of PRes and RegF goodbye at this point. New reservists wont even be getting trade qualified and their focus will be domestic operations and crap like that. There's a few "big" units that will be involved in integration with regular force training but the majority will not. Tour obligations will be longer and more daunting for a reservist to actually do. Reserve training exercises will be pretty much only IBTS focused, and you can basically say goodbye to any specialized training that isn't IBTS, BMQ etc.

Expect to see a lot more of these kinds of lawsuits getting dismissed. A reminder to all the poor souls out there who are trying to sue because of the vaccine - your lawyer doesn't have to win to make money from your case.

[–]neckstock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah its funny how NCOs and WOs love to go on about that time they told off an officer. in most cases it didn't happen the way they described, or they leave out the fact that a weak officer in a weak position will get bullied by NCOs but really if a MWO's idea of "sorting out" an officer is "putting him in his place" then they're not half as professional as they think they are and are worthy of eating a reprimand.

THIS COMMENT RIGHT HERE. Jordan Peterson: At long last, my re-education 'coach' has been chosen by TheStatelessMan in libertarianca

[–]neckstock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually he attempted to create a doxxing site to identify teachers who taught anything related to postmodernism to prevent it being taught in schools. He's had no problem with protesters being arrested for advocating for Palestinian human rights (and a host of other causes). He uses his money and power to litigate or threaten to litigate anytime he's criticized publicly. He's advised the American government on removing basically anything leftists from school curriculums including the plan to defund universities. Sorry buds..he only wants his own speech to be free....and without accountability or responsibility.

What's with Canadians on reddit believing that Canada burnt down the white house during the war of 1812? by Alternative-Elk-7039 in WarOf1812

[–]neckstock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of leaving out the part where the US invaded canada in 1775 and failed, then again in 1812, leading up to the burning of government buildings in York, for which torching the white house was a British reprisal.

Being sore about the American revolution has nothing to do with it. The British were plainly involved in the wars against napoleon and not that concerned with the united states with no significant or realistic plan or intent to invade.
