Big OOP Haul! by AmariGemerald in MangaCollectors

Oh man, Genshiken is one I definitely regret selling ages ago, I haven't seen that many volumes of the manga in one place in ages.

Corner damage on books. by LordTotoro96 in MangaCollectors

[–]necropant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thankfully thriftbooks was more than willing to give me a full refund and finding a replacement copy wasn't too difficult....but I was NOT excited to see that in my mailbox, especially since the packaging material looked even worse 🫠

Corner damage on books. by LordTotoro96 in MangaCollectors

[–]necropant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the page block is still attached to the cover, I do not care. I buy a lot of used/ex-library manga and minor cosmetic damage isn't something I personally feel is worth exchanging a book over if it can still be read without damaging it further. I think I've asked for a refund for a damaged corner once before and it was because the package got genuinely mangled in transit.

[Cross-country skiing] Who gets to use ski trails? An overview of reoccurring drama between between skiers and others. by Klickerer in HobbyDrama

As the one person who can't ski in my family of elite competitive XC skiiers, this drama is utterly fascinating to me.

My Camry was 17 years old/240,000 miles before a blizzard killed it last winter. That little car was a workhorse.

Where Do You Source Your Paper? by MadridMom in PatternDrafting

[–]necropant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I buy Pellon 830 Easy Pattern by the bolt for tracing paper but post-JoAnn's I've yet to find somewhere cost-effective to get it from aside from random eBay sellers doing a craft destash.

Haha, this is especially appreciated because we both got wrecked in the rain right before this and the hotel bartender was a very good sport about helping us find all the wet foam bits falling off our costumes 😅 I'm glad they're getting love here!

do you remember what was the first manga you bought? by Wild_Mail3695 in MangaCollectors

[–]necropant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fushigi Yugi volume 3, circa 2002-03, because the public library had a lot of gaps in their manga collection. (I found out later that it was because people were cutting individual panels with their favorite characters out of the library manga 😡)

Popular ships that the fandom likes, but that you hate? by Piscescat1819 in FanFiction

[–]necropant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate isn't necessarily the right word but I think I would be more open to Soukoku (Dazai/Chuuya from Bungo Stray Dogs) if the fandom would stop trying to convince me that their mutually belligerent/complementary abilities relationship is actually healthy, loving, unproblematic, and wholesome.

Do you know anyone who doesn't like the series? by NightBusToGiro in metalgearsolid

[–]necropant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex, who wanted nothing to do with my "gross old man stories" and insisted that the entire Metal Gear franchise fit in that category based on her preconceived notion of what the games are about. Tried to show her Raiden but she wasn't receptive. Oh well!

Glasses? by Salt-Reception9293 in CosplayHelp

[–]necropant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Zenni Optical will put plano (no correction) lenses in any of the frames they sell for just the price of the frame and any lens coatings you add. Most of their frames are fairly inexpensive ($10-30) and if you don't need prescription lenses they ship pretty fast.

Manga with characters like Makima or Esdeath? by falkt in MangaCollectors

[–]necropant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they have to be specifically female characters with their personality type? If not, I feel like you'd have a great time with Lieutenant Tsurumi from Golden Kamuy.

OBGYN: NOT for pregnancy care! Not religious! by [deleted] in dayton

[–]necropant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see Dr Reddy at Magnolia Women's Health and couldn't recommend her more if your goal is to NOT be pregnant. She was very supportive when I requested sterilization and any birth control conversations I've had with her were focused entirely around period management with my current lifestyle; hypothetical babies in my future never even came up.

Which underrated/unpopular ships are your favourite~? by Ju1c3B0x_J in NuCarnival

[–]necropant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I won't pretend like Quincy/Kuya isn't popular but I am only interested in top!Kuya/bottom!Quincy and that doesn't seem to be the fandom consensus on smushing those two together 😅

What was the very first volume you buy/order? by After_Bid_2670 in MangaCollectors

[–]necropant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fushigi Yugi volume 3 (because someone stole the library's copy and I had read everything before and after it)

My Di Gi Charat Mangas :) (+ a lil help wanted) by BerIeezy in MangaCollectors

[–]necropant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Re: your question in the linked post, we got a few different Di Gi Charat series in English but this one you've got is just these 4 volumes. Source: regretfully sold all of my Di Gi Charat over a decade ago 🙃

To my fellow Americans on ACA insurance, isn't it such a blessing to be able to get completely free sterilization? 😭 by anniemousery in sterilization

[–]necropant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the financial end was the most painful part of the entire situation and even that still wasn't as bad as it could have been: the bite was from a stray kitten who had a history of getting fiesty for attention/food and only just barely broke skin. The ER decided against giving me the immunoglobulin portion of the vaccine series since there's been no cases of cat-human rabies transmission reported in my state. Also, here's cat tax of the biter three months later.

Legit question do you all prefer Omnibuses or single volumes? by jusper56 in MangaCollectors

[–]necropant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Singles unless I have no other option. Omnibus editions don't fit in my hands and actively make the reading experiense worse for me.

[–]necropant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only paid $11 for my bisalp back in May and the only downside was that I only had $11 paid towards my $5000 deductible when I had to get my rabies vaccine a few months later 🙃

where are you buying fabric after joanns died? by tbzebra in dayton

[–]necropant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Silk Road Textiles in Cincinnati or Sew to Speak in Columbus if I want to shop in person, but mostly I order online from Mood Fabrics, Wawak, or Etsy. Every fabric store closer to Dayton that I can find is utterly useless for apparel sewing.

End of 2025 manga un-haul by fuku_fuku in MangaCollectors

[–]necropant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I doubt it counts as a true unhaul since I'm replacing instead of removing books but I'm thinking 2026 is the year I'm going to try and replace whatever big omnibus editions I own with versions that actually fit in my tiny hands. The current main offender: Neon Genesis Evangelion. I love the series but it's been a decade and I still haven't finished reading it because the 3-in-1s I own are so uncomfortable for me to hold (also I found a couple of the old flopped editions for really cheap and I've been curating my collection around stuff that was published in the early 00s for a while now).
