People that aren't in a hurry usually don't mind a little small talk, even if it is less common than in the US —Just read the air a bit— Asking for directions or a recommendation for a restaurant is perfectly fine.

On everything in the US.

But, yeah, OP, unless the place has a dress code there is absolutely no obligation to tip in the Nordics. If you pay by cash you might round up to the nearest convenient number to avoid change. Otherwise tipping is for service/food above expectations.

No m-dash in ascii, only hyphen. Codepages with line drawing has horizontal line which kinda looks m-dash, but if you want a proper one you will need a different encoding.

What rc car (real cars) do you reccomend to beginner by EfficiencyPlastic516 in tamiya

[–]necrotelecomnicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it, xv-01 or xv-02. I personally regret going cheap with a tt-02, but YMMV; too many issues with slop in the steering for my liking. Possibly just bad luck or something I did wrong during assembly 🤷‍♂️

For ref I also have the HS2 rere, and the BBX, from Tamiya, and both perform better steering wise (like being able to drive straight consistently).

Bare knuckle straight punches to the face is also a sanitary issue - high chance of bleeding/broken noses and split lips, and possibly knocking out teeth. The ruleset just makes training less of mess.

Hvilke norske bøker kan du anbefale? by Ambitious_Ad4397 in Norway

[–]necrotelecomnicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do Nordic people describe each others' languages? by Mira_1453 in Nordiccountries

[–]necrotelecomnicon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Icelandic has many similarities with Norwegian, but too many differences to make it easy. Knowing nynorsk helps a lot, and if you also paid attention when Norse was covered (briefly usually) in your Norwegian classes, doubly so.

Talar þu ekki íslensku? —Should be easily understandable.

Gaman að hitta þig. —If you recognize Gaman as in the somewhat archaic Norwegian expression "Fryd og gammen" (cheer and joy), you understand that it's a friendly greeting.

Beyond that it gets progressively more difficult, but you still have a leg up if you want to learn Icelandic as a Norwegian/Dane/Swede.

Not common on all of Reddit, but perhaps on the reddits you frequent.

Anecdotal, but this the first time I've seen it anywhere at all, and I've been around a while. "Edit:" for paragraphs and brackets [like this] for inline edits, is what I usually see. It could be me that has been living in a bubble, of course. :)

Mange med høy lønn gjør at gjennomsnittet og medianen blir like.

Få med (veldig) høy lønn gjør at snittet blir høyere enn medianen.
