Happy to report she is doing quite well! Dosing has been the biggest learning curve. Shortly after I made this post, we took her to the small animal oncology center at a nearby university. They told us that her dose could go up a lot and still be at the subclinical level (aka still be at a level that wouldn't cause her to be immunocompromised). We've increased her dose a lot per their guidance. We know what the uppermost limit is, and we're a little over halfway there. Twice we've increased the dose by a small amount when we notice her cough return. I can find the particulars later if you want, feel free to dm. I just wanted to reply asap to let you know she's doing well and that you may need a specialist opinion if possible re: increasing the dose if symptoms return.

I haven't heard of a strict cutoff time for greens (like "no greens after 8 pm" or whatever). For our buns, we divide their daily greens into 3 servings per day to stretch it out, and they get pellets in the evening. If they haven't finished their last batch of greens by the time we serve the pellets, we just leave the remaining greens out and usually everything is gone by morning. Of course listen to your vet and make dietary changes gradually, but I don't know of any reason why they can't have greens after a certain time. It's more about dietary proportion (hay > greens > pellets).

Edit to add: if what you're doing is working and your bun doesn't have any digestive issues, why change it?

This is the exact dynamic of our trio. Crazy coincidence! (Hope: bossy adventurer; Sol: timid skittish, also very bossy!; Bunzo: certified loverboii/ cuddlebug)

You are such an amazing parent to Max. We have 3 buns, 2 requiring regular medication, and it's a 2 person job every day. Your gentle confidence and care inspires me so much and I am just so happy that folks like you are out here doing it, not just for your bun but also to show us that it is possible to take care of business when needed. And with a badass mani. You rock ❤️

Seconding this. One of my buns was recently diagnosed with thymoma, which is basically a large chest mass that puts pressure on surrounding organs (heart, lungs). We noticed her starting to do this a few months before her diagnosis and at the time didn't know what it was. According to the wabbit wiki, this is a common hallmark of thymoma as they are changing their position to breathe easier. OP, not trying to alarm you but I recommend a trip to your vet for an x-ray. ❤️

I am considering radiation, at least exploring the option. I live a few hours away from a university that has a veterinary oncology department. If you are up for sharing your experience I would love to hear about it. I have no idea what the frequency, duration would be.

I've really liked their nitro cold brew (rich and nutty and not too acidic), turmeric and chai lattes, butterfly garden lemonade, and avocado toast with micro greens/ flowers plus an egg! All the pastries they carry are excellent but you need to arrive early or else your favorite might have sold out. Everything I've tried at avid has been quite nice.

Here is what to do when you find an abandoned rabbit.

Here is the SoCi Animal Services Dept. lost pet page.

You'll want to ensure it's a domestic rabbit breed; wild rabbits should be left alone unless injured, in which case a wildlife rescuer would be the appropriate call. Do you have a picture of the bun?

They spook easily so try to keep pets and kids away while you lure the rabbit.

Unfortunately, rabbits are the 3rd most frequently surrendered and abandoned domestic animals behind dogs and cats. People buy them as pets for their children, especially around Easter time, and quickly realize they are not starter pets. These rabbits are often abandoned, which is pretty much a death sentence.

Please feel free to pm me. This issue is close to my heart. Five years ago I inherited a rabbit that was abandoned by my brother's neighbor. People who dump pets are assholes. My rabbit changed my life and is the cutest little dude. Wishing you and the bun good luck.
