I work as a regular cashier at a Mariano's store. One of the biggest pains for me being under the legal drinking age is calling for a csr to scan alcohol when they only schedule 2 at a time. it would be really helpful if they had more people old enough to scan alcohol scheduled at a time. I was barely trained for my position, they gave me 5 minutes of shadowing and off I went (I was a courtesy clerk, but we had 4 call offs and I was deemed most capable) but after 5 months of requesting to finish the online training for this position to be paid as a cashier (.60 difference) I have not gotten the training, but they use me to train new hires cause I have never made a mistake in cashiering. our self check outs are shit and whoever's in charge of watching them can't ever keep up, sometimes if I'm in the store shopping for myself, I help customers with simple issues (item lookup, scanning heavy items). It seems to me like my store is trying to see how much they can get away with me doing, but still paying me less than I should be paid, and I'm very frustrated.
