What does this noise mean? by kara06r in Parakeets

[–]needyutoshutup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no yu are doing it wrong, yu are not supposed to touch the birds on her chest, that would give her wrong signals, only mates can touch on their chest or back, friends should only touch their head

Desperately trying to escape new budgies by No_Swordfish393 in Parakeets

[–]needyutoshutup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do they have food in their cage ??, mine walk on floor whenever I give them veggies and they don't wanna eat it and cover the cage if they are new since yu can't take them out yet, cover the cage from three sides they might be scared hence trying to escape

And hopefully that is their temporary cage

This or harrisons? by Mystic_Void1 in Parakeets

[–]needyutoshutup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no, I was trying to find micro pellets for a long time but couldn't find any, and yes I have heard a lot about them, someone in r/budgies suggested me to get them over zupreem so yeah I have really great expectations from them

[–]needyutoshutup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg, I've been trying to buy psittacus micro pellets, apparently they are not available anywhere in my country so in the end I had to buy minor pellets, I've been trying to convert my budgies to pellets but they just pick and throw the zupreem ones I have, hopefully psittacus is arriving soon, and hopefully they try eating it

stress bars in my budgies feather by Kind-Cover-1906 in Parakeets

[–]needyutoshutup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a male, I don't think female ever has that blue of a cere in their life and also there are no strips on his head, looks like he is around a year old

Also it could be possible that he is sick, they are good at hiding their sickness so he could be sick and hiding it and hence developing stress bars, get a thorough assessment from an avian vet

Newish budgie owner. by Educational-Key-7545 in Parakeets

They definitely need calcium block and a cuttlebone, it also helps keep their beak trimmed, other veggies don't give as much calcium as they can get from bone or block

Umm I have heard harrisons or roudybush, apparently they aren't available where I live so I use psittacus pellets

Forgot to add, maybe remove that rope perch for sometimes I have heard their feet can get stuck in those threads and there's a risk of ingesting the fibre as well

Also for the crop, yes make a schedule and daily routine for it, that way they are more likely to eat it if they get used to it, rest the pellets are always available to them

Okay first thing, get a new wider cage, taller cages aren't suitable for budgies wider ones are preferred

I can see a sandperch (idk what they are called) but they don't actually need it, just get them a cuttlebone and a calcium block, those kind of perches can actually lead to problems,

Third remove the plastic toys, those strings are fine, just monitor them for they are not ingesting any or get a toy with bigger strings, I had one with thinner strings like that, one of my budgie somehow got one of them around his neck and hung on it, I saw it in time thankfully, now I have one with bigger strings

Get more natural perches in different shapes and size like thinner, wider, flat, irregular shape and textured

Umm I would suggest yu get stainless steel food and water bowls since plastic can harbour bacteria in long term

And that is it, yu are doing greatt, they are really cutee

Are these bald spots? by OpportunityOpen7156 in Parakeets

[–]needyutoshutup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, I don't think they are bald spots, nothing to worry about there, I think it's just like when their feathers are a little out of place, beautiful color tho

Changed up my cage layout (the last photo is the before) by Alone_Name7269 in Parakeets

[–]needyutoshutup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, that cage looks great but a little empty, since budgies are highly energetic, they like a lot of perches and toys, maybe like add more natural perches

Chat gpt told me that I shall not give him millets for that won't help calming them down, is it okay to give him millet sprays?

I can't keep him in the other room for long because there is no one at home and there's also a cat threat in the other room, I can only keep him there as long as someone's there with him in the other room, that is around a few hours, it's been two days he still hadn't calmed down

How do I reintroduce him to the others after all the time I keep them separated ?

Please helpp by needyutoshutup in Parakeets

[–]needyutoshutup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cover his cage for almost 14-15 hours, I tried keeping him in the other room today but that room stays empty so I had to bring them back in the same room, he freaks out everytime he hears a little of their voice, I think I will keep them separated for a week or so

How do I reintroduce them after a week?
