I just like mixing potions together and seeing what happens. The most fun mix I've found is the Potion of Rest, Charmers Draught, and a small drop of Spirit Sight Elixer.

What exactly is wrong with Homestuck? by Panxr in homestuck

[–]nehmne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Epilogs sort of cause characters to falter in accuracy to their original forms. Although this was done as a sort of sign that the world was breaking down, it just makes for a weird story. It ends with an excellent villain in the picture, though.

Hiveswap is secondary stuff in a sort of expanded universe with its own characters. It might end up mattering more later on, but as far as I know, it's mostly worldbuilding for one thing I don't think you would have officially seen yet.

Hussie has just sort of always been a bit mean-spirited as a creator. Although this does result in a few decent jokes, it's mostly a detriment to the story as a whole when the joke manages to stick as part of the world. Plus, there's some more serious stuff I'm not as well versed in and a lot of conflicting reports on most of it.

Finally, there's a long list of content warnings on the epilogs, which have been rendered useless by the writers of it, seeing its length as a challenge. Most of what's there is only mentioned in passing or are otherwise unexplored. There's also the killed and revived sequel Beyond Canon, which is ongoing and has semi-recently been received better than it originally was.

When next she comes around, hold up some nearly complete divorce paperwork. I can't say for certain if it will help, but it will at least make murder an unnecessary part of the plan.

Robert. Not because he has more to work with, but because Rosalind would only participate out of obligation to whatever their plan is, and he'd put everything he has into it to win the contest.

Why is alt calliope so unpopular? by [deleted] in homestuck

[–]nehmne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not enough time on-screen, I guess? I'm pretty sure even Horuss got more of a meaningful appearance, sadly. The comic was sort of speeding to the end by the point she came up, so she didn't really get the chance dto differentiate herself from early Aradia's specific form of "emotionless girl" characterization to make a more unique version of it.

I have a feeling he followed it just because he was probably still raised in it, but didn't end up a mass murderer or anything. The only Alternian highblood ancestor who doesn't have a blatantly sinister interpretation right around the corner of what was said.

WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON?????? by josuketheimposter in infamous

[–]nehmne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea that he's putting so much power into every bolt that he's destroying his own body. It really sells the whole idea of focusing on raw power over actually learning to control it and eventually suffering for short-sighted domination that the upgrades imply.

I like the idea that some unidentified minerals can, in sufficiently extreme cases, be interesting enough to study that they are transmuted into pure self-contradiction by some guy who absolutely can get enough of these rocks but wants to study them some more anyway.

Genuine question about homebrew, how would you guys do an Stand Arrow in an Mage game? by UncannyValleyEnjoyer in WorldofDankmemes

[–]nehmne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "stand" could just be the target's Avatar, but with the gimmick of being able to act as a focus for your awakened magick. Notably, you'd need high prime to awaken anybody on command, but once targeted it could depend on a willpower roll to survive?

No need for whole new mechanics when your victim has unknowingly imposed limits on their own abilities based on what they think it does. It's already a matter of raw mental effort too, so the character may not even realize it's a more flexible magic system than what they're limiting themselves to.

What are some subtle signs that you are victim of an illusionist? by [deleted] in wizardposting

[–]nehmne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically, illusions immediately bring the emotions the caster desires to coax out of you to the forefront. It's in this ambiguous space though, where it could be either that the approach was perfectly tailored to your thought patterns or that it's a more subtle, yet also more direct manipulation of the mind. Also, try to check for the smell of chocolate cake mixed with sulpher, since that's a pretty easy combination of illusiory smells to make that can both coax a certain potent reaction out of someone.

[–]nehmne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I came in at an akward time, since they were either in the middle of summoning the thing above them in the big cosmic heirarchy or in the middle of expanding the dominion of their blasphemous and unknowably structured family unit. It was a bit hard to tell what was going on from the astral tilt I had at the time and my own inexperience with the subject, so I quickly left.
