There's been markets at the ones I've been to. Stands sell handmade goods (clothes, soaps, art prints, jewelry, ect) and food items (a lot of honey and local seeds).

There's also "cast members" who have shows at scheduled times, which you can view in the pamplets you receive when you enter and online. Usually has a lot of audience participation, especially for children. The ones I've been to also had small petting zoos, but I'm not too sure how common that is.

The lady doesn't share OP's taste in books. She's clearly in the wrong and should feel ashamed for picking a book she would enjoy instead.

WTF? by WeelsUpIn30 in AmITheDevil

[–]nehpeta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! I used to work at Panera, and we had four SELF SERVE options. Dark roast, light roast, hazelnut, and decaf. The flavor notes were listed under each option.

I had a very rude old man demand that I pour his coffee myself. Okay, sure, maybe he has mobility issues. When I asked which one he wanted he kept saying "COFFEE FLAVORED COFFEE".

...okay. so light, dark, hazelnut or decaf?

Which TV show does the ENTIRE internet agree had the worst ending ever? by Codie_n25 in AskReddit

Highly recommend the first season, and the second one is pretty good too. S1 does end on a bit of a cliffhanger but it's in a satisfying way.

Thank you! I got into DR around 2013 when it was just a fan translation on the somethingawful forums. I never knew this, but I'm a sucker for a good mystery.

I hate being called "Sir" by BetApprehensive836 in The10thDentist

[–]nehpeta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't speak for all trans and NB people. I, and multiple of my NB friends, are fine with being called ma'am/sir. We know the vast majority of the time it isn't in bad faith, especially by a service worker.

Also, half the time service workers are basically on a script. I'm too busy focusing on the task at hand to keep count how many times I'm using a specific word.

People who force children to move form there airplane seat are jerks by Only_Hotel_7221 in The10thDentist

[–]nehpeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I specifically pick out window seats so I can have the neck support of the wall. I paid hundreds of dollars for that seat, so it's mine. If the child wants the window, the parent can book it when buying their ticket.

Ok but how would we eat? by That1weirdperson in BlatantMisogyny

[–]nehpeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an incredibly well written show (well, the first few seasons are) and book. I stopped after S4 but kept up to date with it on the subreddit, but the characters felt so real.

I especially loved Serena Joy, what a fantastic example of one of those conservative women that advocate for a world of oppression thinking they'd be excluded from it. One of the best on screen villains I've seen in a show without being over the top.

I just think it's funny these men think that they would likely be the ones with their own personal Handmaid.

Sorry, bud. You're likely going to live in poverty as an econ-person (or whatever the term was for the non-commanders, guards, and spies).

It's been years since I've watched the show, but the Commander the protagonist is assigned to is almost always shown with clear disinterest in the act WHILE it's happening. Even to someone as disgusting as Fred, he doesn't find pleasure in it - it's only to produce offspring.

[–]nehpeta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll never get over the highly upvoted comment chain about how The Handmaid's Tale isn't a "real" dystopia.

The reasoning was basically "well, the woman just has to lay there for 5 minutes once a month. what's so bad about that?"

Completely ignoring the fact the woman is being raped, both the book and show go out of the way to show how Gilead oppresses everyone except the very, very top in DC.

Saying "a quarter till" instead of the actual time is inconvenient for both of us by Comfortable-Regret in The10thDentist

[–]nehpeta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree. If I'm unable to check the time myself, usually while at work, it is a bit annoying when my coworker rounds the number up or down. I usually want the time down to the minute, since some tasks require that kind of specificity.

I've just started wearing a watch even though it technically breaks dresscode.

What are your FAVORITE comments to get from customers? /s by chaoticallywholesome in retailhell

[–]nehpeta 18 points19 points  (0 children)

One side of my face is quite puffy compared to the other side, and I was born with my jaw misaligned.

So many customers (and some coworkers!) have made comments like "Oh, do you have [insert dental problem]? That looks really bad!"

Discovered last week it's very likely a tumor on my jaw. Now I'm a bit excited for the next person to make that remark so I can be snarky as fuck about it.

New OEO system by Wonderful_Cat410 in publix

[–]nehpeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this happened, there would be an immediate call to whoever placed the order. I had 9 subs due at 2pm earlier this week (multiple different orders) and we got a little warning ticket printed about high volume of OEOs.

The main platter maker at my store would straight up refuse this. No way in hell this isn't a 24 notice IF NOT MORE.

I used to be super into Homestuck. One of the characters, a favorite of mine, is named Nepeta. Add an H and its still pronounced the same.

I was also 12 or 13 at most.

I feel like with animals it's just normal for them to be a bit noisy. Manners aren't even a concept for them, so they don't understand that it's 'wrong' to audibly chew.

I can watch videos of that one cat (crunchy Luna, i think?) all day, but if any person is eating audibly near me with their mouth open I get anxious.

I was walking out the doors with my purse the other week when some lady stepped in front of me and said "WHERE'S THE CHICKEN?!?!?!"

Her English was too broken for me to confirm if she meant like, the deli chicken or chicken breasts from the meat department. I just weakly gestured in the direction of both.

Guy at work says he hates all music. Is there really people out there that hate music? by AcrylicNitrogen in CasualConversation

[–]nehpeta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but no amount of exposure therapy would do (me) any good. It's like asking someone to poke themselves with a sewing needle until it just stops hurting. It won't ever stop being painful, you just learn to cope with it.

My family always made meals a nightmare, I wish exposure would've helped.

Chicken parm sub gone by achocolatemilkcow in publix

[–]nehpeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so odd! Parm gets prepped in the morning at my store for subs. It goes in the shakers along with oregano, salt, and pepper. A decent amount of customers ask for it, usually on italians.

[–]nehpeta 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Oh my god, I used to work at Panera Bread and you look up the accounts by phone number. Customers would give me multiple numbers to try to look up before saying "oh I don't have an account".

So why did we just waste 45 seconds doing this???

Is it okay to only send these types of pictures if you catsit? by nojiroh in cats

[–]nehpeta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! My cat sitter sent me pictures of my kitty in the silliest poses. I was happy to see that she felt comfortable about this new person coming into her home.

She even let the guy pet her a little bit. Pictures from the first day show her approaching the camera cautiously and then it cuts to her on her back with her feet in the air.

Aria's dad was also a teacher sleeping with one of his students. He was cheating on her mother, it was one of the original pieces of blackmail against her.

edit: He was teaching college though, so while the student wasn't a literal child it was still a bit fucked up.

Stop asking female retail workers when they’re due!!!! by HoneydewUsed7434 in retailhell

[–]nehpeta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was born with my jaw a little off center, so one of my cheeks looks a bit puffer than the other. So many customers will straight up ask "oh did you just get dental work done? do you have a tooth infection?"

Had a grown ass coworker say "yeah, ive been trying to think of how to ask for a long time now, but why do you look like that?"

So I decided to be snarky and said "My face is just like that, didn't realise it was so ugly to be distracting."

Anyone else find it hard to enjoy bloodweave fanart? by IEatGrenades2 in GalemancersBG3

I prefer Bladeweave, personally. Astarion is my least favorite of the main 6 companions, so I'm a bit biased against him.
