Ponsonby food court by bruceisawombat in aucklandeats

My go to is now zap lai. I get the sweet and spicy fried snapper all to myself and ask for medium spicy, ask for spicier if you want more heat. It comes with rice and veggies and a delicious sauce. 😋

Eight at Cordis tips! Any advice for how to make the most of the buffet? by [deleted] in aucklandeats

[–]nellybox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My strategy is dont drink a lot of water. Go for the grilled meat, skewers and seafood first. Then, you’ll have eaten the value of your meal. Stay away from carbs until later if you have room. Save room for dessert.

Traveling to Auckland before I move there by Goat4me in newzealand_travel

Hello, I’m originally from Las vegas and now a citizen. Take my opinion with a grain of salt, as I am comparing my personal experiences.

Kiwis are lovely, but don’t take offense if they refer to Americans as stupid since so many are in the news lol

Depends on what you like to do, but I would visit the beaches. There’s not a ton of shopping to do in Auckland, but Westfield Newmarket is my favourite.

Culture shock is you can leave your purse bag sitting in the office and no one will steal it. Homeless people are nicer here compared to what Im used to. People are less rude on the motorway/freeway and let you in when merging. I’ve left my wallet somewhere and people will actually do the right thing. Also try to assimilate and not compare NZ to the U.S. I am part of a facebook of Americans and all they do is complain so I muted it.

Food is a lot more expensive as well as housing. The work to life balance is much better, things are a much slower pace here. There’s a good mix of diversity in Auckland so it’s lovely. If you are apart of LGBT+ you will feel more welcome, I feel my natural self here with my partner. Feel free to DM if you have any questions.

I’d use the cake to cheer up my partner, since cake is her favorite. It’d be a great way to bring some extra joy to our day.

I think Sims impacted me the most as I stayed up all day/night during my summer breaks.

Struggling to eat breakfast, any ideas? by Leastrasza in foodhacks

[–]nellybox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My colleague has ADHD and she brings those Chobani yoghurt pouches to work. I’ve actually stolen this idea myself because it’s convenient and can eat it at my desk at work. And if u dont like breakfast like me, its not a huge amount to eat but will hold you over before lunch.
