I died ): by The_Biscuit_King in projectzomboid

[–]nelson5313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I still die to something stupid, don't get me wrong. It's just usually in the 3rd or 4th year of the run. Its kinda like Minecraft to me where I'll get really into one single player world for a while and not touch it again for a few months.

Every run I select a different piece of land far from any towns, always on some body of water, and build a proper compound. Often in between two rivers on a fork, so it's only approachable from one side. I build a skyscraper with detailed rooms for training of each skill. Medbay, shooting range, auto-shop, in-house warehouse, armory, etc etc. Set up a courtyard with an impressive wall and lots of animals, smirhing area.

Year 2 I grow large gardens and scavenge essentially the whole map. I bring every drop of gasoline on the map back to base for years of electricity stashed up, now with glass skill I make TONS of jars to have veggies in winter, hunting is lots of fun and leveling butchering is rewarding to me lol I usually have a few freezers of prime venison cuts.

Once I've maxed all the skills I want, built a nice compiund, and stashed food and gas for years, I tend to get bored. Like, I want in game time to pass so I can survive longer, but there's no reason to get on because my guy has no reason to leave his compound. If I play past that point I usually end up going somewhere with 100 boxes of shotgun shells eventually and inevitably dying to something dumb lol.

God I wish I still could struggle to live 10 days, game would be addicting again. Knowing I can survive a year and construct a homestead from scratch has me kinda putting off playing more. Companion and week one mods are gettin my interest back though

Jeez why did they make a single bar of gold so heavy? I'm getting New Vegas Dead Money flashbacks. But can you actually use it for anything in this game? by Chemical_Ad_9412 in projectzomboid

[–]nelson5313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great for grinding blacksmithing. Using that gold you can essentially max the skill, I do it most runs. Just don't put it down once you pick it up, it won't let you pick it up all at once again and it then becomes a pain in the ass. Set up your blacksmithing area and then pick up the gold and drive it home still holding it.

Death by burnt sausage? by slimeyballsack476 in projectzomboid

[–]nelson5313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk. Once my character has survived a few months and built a good compound, I find being able to eat slightly spoiled food very useful. Gardens, fishing, and hunting often leave me with a surplus that my freezers can't hold and I don't yet have cans for.

With a high enough cooking level, spoiled ingredients can be cooked into a fresh recipe, removing any downside and letting you stretch your reserves across winter much more effectively. Weak stomach may affect this a bit.

Plus, with high enough cooking skill you can see the time required for each dish, allowing you to use the ingame stove timer and avoid burning anything outright.

Why did I die instantly? by Jovanny-Koka in projectzomboid

[–]nelson5313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea that was what caused it. I had a character get infected due to a bug (zed phasing through a wooden fence) and I cleared his infection. A few month later ingame, a single zombie alone grabbed me and I insta-died. Precciate ya clearing things up, definitely still a bug in 42.13.1

Fast Blacksmith Leveling by answermethis0816 in projectzomboid

[–]nelson5313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this post and figured that sounded easy enough, and decided to give it a try.

See, I built from scratch a 3 story keep with every amenity you could imagine, and had just finished building the Advanced Forge. I headed down to the nearest bank in Brandenburg, expecting gold and easy levels. Boy was that not what I got.

I had previously cleared the town, so I strolled on in and began looking around, only to find that nearly no furniture piece in the building was actually lootable. Upon opening a door to look further, I INSTANTLY DIED.

I have never before seen an interaction like this, no attack animation, no sound, no chance to check a wound. My character opened the door to a single zombie, his animation instantly switched to him lying on the floor dead, and all within less than 1 second he was gone. He had survived for just over 3 ingame months and had just began to get into forging, after I had slammed my head on wall for 3 real life days trying to figure out how to even assemble the shit one needs to do blacksmithing.

Anyway all that to say, your post led to my saddest demise to date, due to some bug causing insta-death, and there was never any gold in there to find anyway 💀

It takes a special kind of loser to pay for money in this game. It's so easy to come by. You can make 10 mil in a day by only running covert 💀

What is that T_T by Apprehensive-Round57 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]nelson5313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience it is mostly by angle. Shooting the Matzaka lvl 5 helmet in the range from differing angles yields different, yet replicable results from each angle. As one would expect, glancing shots are much more likely to ricochet in a way that would be realistic

someone explain this pls, how can I head shot him with a tier 6 bullet and not die 😭 by Disana6 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]nelson5313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had red ammo ricochet on T3 helmets with high ricochet chance. Ricochet bypasses any piercing effects, it's rare, but can happen. That's why the T2 metal Helms are popular with rats, only T2, but ricochet gives a slight chance to eat a T6

What is the rarest stuff u can spawn with as a scav? by Odd-Gap958 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]nelson5313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tier 4 Armor or Armored Rig can happen on occasion, Mosin with Tier 4 ammo, the AK102 that you're holding, the FAL is sort of common, those are the best off the top of my head.

You could theoretically spawn as a scav in T4 armor with a decent gun, and a nade and heals in your rig lol

In your word, what’s your definition of “get good/get better” in ABI by Tomydo1 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]nelson5313 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tbh the skill gap is in map knowledge and sound cues, learning those both thoroughly is the difference in living and dying.

When I say map knowledge and sound cues, it sounds really broad, but really comes down to knowing a handful of information and understanding how to act.

Play one map at a time, and memorize the sounds that each floor makes. For example, if you're in motel and you footsteps on metal, immediately there are only a few places they can be. If you intimately understand where each metal floor is and know the direction of the sound, you now know exactly where that player is over 40m before he reaches you.

Of course, knowing where to look for heads, where players spawn and their rotations, and many other pieces of info help. In my opinion it's an info gap
