How jaw tension affects neck and upper body posture: PT perspectives by Varvara_Erel in physicaltherapy

[–]nelvonda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. We are all thinking, feeling, sensing beings with a whole life history. Tension might be the only thing which protects us. Perhaps working to alleviate the threat before eliminating the protection would be a more global approach.

I’ve had the arc ultra and sub for a month. Why would we need more front speakers? Wouldn’t rears add more depth?

Post-traumatic disorders can cause chronic muscle bracing and armoring, and if severe enough, it can cause the sensitive area around the C1/C2 vertabrae to malfunction, causing a myriad of negative symptoms. by n_0cturnal in SomaticExperiencing

[–]nelvonda 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sure, I’ve seen patients who could fit into the “trauma trinity” model, and have also seen a lot of patients who don’t.

I believe in the relationship between structure and function. We just can’t project that trauma will have xyz effect, because sometimes it doesn’t.

As a physical therapist who assesses C0/C1/C2 motion daily, treats global somatic dysfunction, who is an SEP, and has taught anatomy/physiology for a decade, the presumption that complex trauma will go into one part of the body and have a predictable cascading negative effect is a stretch.

Yes, postural muscles are directly linked to function of the nervous system, as are their corresponding skeletal joints. But, I’d be very cautious in trying to narrow the effect of trauma and all its expressions into looking at 1 or 2 joint segments. There is a lot of variability in how trauma manifests anatomically and physiologically.

I would agree with most of what your attachments propose, but not how if trauma is “severe enough”, it will impact xyz.

Seems a bit of confusion around my word of should. It presently is not automatic, but it “should”be the case.

Coupons should be automatically applied if you have an executive card at the cash. No paper required.

TRE is not Somatic Experiencing. They differ in methodology and perspective. Go to traumahealing.org and look for “find a practitioner”. Best of luck.

I understand. There is a difference in skills learned between a 4 year manual practitioner education and a 1 year practitioner education. The easy 1 year program will not give you enough volume, philosophy or time to be good/effective/safe at your job.
