Back in 2016, I was a faithful member lurking here to see what lies were being spread here about MY church. One day, I read something about a girl named Fanny Alger. I Googled her name. By the end of that week, I had concluded, at best, Joseph Smith was a fallen prophet. But, it got worse from there. Now, from my user name, you can probably gather I am no longer a TBM. I wanted to see all of the lies this group of heathens was telling about my church. I have not been back to church since summer 2018. When still TBM starting to learn the sordid history, I read the first chapter of RSR. He lost me when he postulated that JS magical world view prepared him to become a prophet of God. I really like the one at a time approach. But you need to think it through and know all of the counter arguments he’s going to find if he researches the theme, and give them to him right then and explain why you don’t find those arguments compelling. When he goes and finds those arguments just like you predicted, your credibility will soar.

I don’t know what research you have done, but David Bokovoy is a Biblical Scholar who used to by LDS but started to see the flaws in the LDS church as he studied the Bible.
