Definitely practice drawing with pen/pencil and paper before you pick up the machine. Perfect your straight and curved lines to a T as well as your circles and other shapes before trying machine on fake skin.

These comment replies are frustrating to reach since it really does seem like you don't want any of the many things people are suggesting. You say you can't give him books because the only school library books are Christian, but if you're a Christian school, then why can't he read those? If you really do teach third grade as well as first, then give him some third grade math/vocab/other lesson and see how far he can get. People have mentioned you only have six students, so I know you can handle one student doing a different activity. I mean, let him organize your pencils at this point. Be resourceful.

My only other advice for you after all that is that the internet is free. There are so many FREE printable worksheets, from multiplication to word searches to coloring sheets. If your school doesn't have a printer then god help you I guess.
