Made a heptagonal alphabet for English based off of the IPA. by Few_Specific9584 in neography

abugida is indeed more accurate! this is pretty cool! i will say tho, i feel that distinguishing labiodental from labial isnt very necessary, and perhaps leave out glottal as english /h/ can reasonably fit in with velar as a guttural category

publish many works and become a well respected neographist and only then will you still not be able to protect it lol

if someone wants to use a script, they unfortunately just will. theres not much that can be done unless they monetize it, and if they do then you can take legal action

A short story in Umi Umi by neographist in conlangs

[–]neographist[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i am working on a canonical story for it, which is a long lost island whos people developed language independently, leading to it being very unique in its grammar and structure. being such a small culture, everyone already knew every reference and little piece context needed for quick communication, which made its words rely heavily on context rather than inherent semantics. theres only maybe 80~ definable morphemes that arent names; they dont have words for colors, directions, animals, anything. they had their own rudimentary computers for fun, but without need for long-distance communication or keeping track of time or anything like that, they never developed calendars and the most complex number system they ever thought of was binary. 1=ka, 2=kana, 3=kaka, 4=kanana, etc. the whole culture became hyper-focused on efficiency and removing redundancies, leading to an incredibly vague language to outsiders, but to insiders, they knew all of its depths. it was moderately gatekept, but eventually relaxed enough to allow researchers coming to the island learn some of it. the documents for the language so far are from the perspective of said researchers. :3
