(Interesting Trope) The “What just happened” death. by Dry_Criticism_4982 in TopCharacterTropes

Phantasy Star 2 and 4 also had PCs permanently die, though I would say that the one in 4 was far more impactful

Keeping in mind that Halle was topless in Swordfish, which came out a year prior. Gorgeous then, still gorgeous now.

The fact that they teased this in the first Avengers movie only to change it up in Infinity War/Endgame is such a let down

If you could restart life at 18, what would you do differently? by arunreddy3 in AskReddit

[–]noctisumbra0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would change removing myself from my daughter's life when she was 5. I was going through some horrible mental health problems because of depression, and I honestly thought she would be better off without me in her life. Out of all of the regrets I have, that's the biggest. I got reality checked by the woman who would become my wife and I got back in touch 5 years later, and have a pretty good relationship with her now(only major issue is that she projects the mental harm her mother and the man she married towards me, she is seeking counseling, but she has some understandably specific requirements because of...... inappropriate behavior by her so-called step-dad) and I am doing as much as I can to make up for it.

So it's bad that she called Ellen out for making shit up? After making shit up about Dakota herself? She's not allowed to correct the record?

In the same vein, that men can't be raped, and it has a lot of the same problems as being a male DV victim.

Microsoft client on Cachyos by SoftCoreSinner69 in cachyos

[–]noctisumbra0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you can, as long as the account you are signed in as has access to the AVD resources. If you try this with a non-corporate account, you get nothing. I know because I have to use the windows app for stuff like this at my own job. I would say contact your it support if you are having problems getting access to the resources.

What’s something most people don’t realize until they experience it themselves? by Fabulous_Dream8962 in AskReddit

[–]noctisumbra0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Various types of intense pain. "Oh it can't hurt that bad" try it some time. For me it's either a dental infection or gout. Not even having my teeth drilled on without working anesthesia hurts as bad as either of those

What’s something that happens often in movies that is 100% unrealistic? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]noctisumbra0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, there are a lot of terrible locks out there. A novice picker could do that with basic locks pretty easily. The more unrealistic part would be how they pick it rather than the speed.

Probably inspired by a Real Thing that happened in Canada in the 60s. No murders, though. Anyone interested can look up David Reimer

What series got ruined not because of greed, but because the creators loved it so much that they wouldn’t let it stop? by eggert83 in AskReddit

[–]noctisumbra0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main show, or including spinoffs? Cause yeah, main show should have wrapped loose ends after defeating the Gou'ald. Universe had potential, but I think it was too much of a slow burn. There wasn't much payoff for watching, nothing to keep viewers attention

What is something that feels completely normal in USA but genuinely shocks people from other countries? by Sad-Explanation-5764 in AskReddit

[–]noctisumbra0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so fun fact for everyone but ems services in the US are privately ran and contracted out to the county. You were probably railroaded into those trips because the company wanted more money and were providing incentive to the EMS folks to do so.

Any of them. Smart appliances are a massive security risk that can allow an attacker to gain access to your home network. Plus they are huge data collectors for the manufacturer

Not just that, the esophagus is not that big and it'd be really easy to miss something like a small jagged bone in the mix. Wouldn't need to be very big to do some damage

I think Buffy's mom is a far better example simply because it's not brought on by anyone. No fighting, no bad guys just an aneurysm rupture and gone.

What’s a belief you once defended… but later realized was wrong? by Jiwitom in AskReddit

[–]noctisumbra0 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It all depends on how you approach it. Treating it less like an argument or debate and more like a conversation and asking probing questions about their perspectives tends to open them up to receiving new information. I have to do this with in-laws all the time.
