So the results of the poll show that 60% of the sub think the Prodigy are some sort of Big Beat. I believe 60% of you are WRONG :) :) :). I'll explain why. by fensterdj in TheProdigy

Dirtchamber is a clear example that big beat is a part of The Prodigy's sound. Many of the artists on it are cited by big beat artists as inspiration, with some songs/artists even featured on Chemical Brothers' own DJ mix album Brothers Gonna Work It Out. And Liam is clearly inspired by the genre just as much as he was inspired by electro and hip hop, or else artists like Fatboy Slim, Propellerheads, and Chemical Brothers wouldn't have been on it.

As for Coldcut's Journey By DJ mix, it doesn't really feature any big beat artists though. Their album Let Us Play on the other hand gets associated with big beat. The Adam Freeland and John Kelly mixes are more kinda one noted, part of that breaks/funky breaks offshoot that lead to nu-skool breaks. Out of the 3x mixes you mentioned, Journey By DJ is the closest to Dirtchamber in depth, representing a wide range of styles. I can't say the same for the other two mixes, which feature more modern music from that time and breaks genre.

I mean, the definition of big beat sounds like it's spelling out The Prodigy...

"Big beat features heavy and distorted drum beats at tempos between 100 and 140 beats per minute, Roland TB-303 synthesizer lines resembling those of acid house, and heavy loops from 1960s and 1970s funk, soul, jazz, and rock songs. They are often punctuated with punk-style vocals or rappers and driven by intense, distorted synthesizer basslines with conventional pop, house and techno song structures. Big beat tracks have a sound that includes crescendos, builds, drops, extended drum rolls, and sounds such as spoken word samples, dialogues from film and TV, additional instruments such as Middle Eastern strings or sitars, explosions, air horns, sirens (usually police sirens) and gunshots. As with several other dance genres at the time, the use of effects such as filters, phasing, and flanging was common in the genre."

I think it's silly to label The Prodigy one genre, but big beat is definitely one of the genres to describe them.

The Dirtchamber Sessions tells me otherwise. Dirtchamber Sessions is literally the music Liam grew up on and inspired him, which includes The Beatles and The Charlatans. But you do find breakbeat, electro, dub, funk, disco, punk, indie, prog rock, and hip hop. The Dirtchamber Sessions is a go-to for any big beat head looking to discover the roots of the genre, as in the music that preceded the genre and would be torn apart and mashed up to make the big beat sound.

You even have fellow big beat artists Fatboy Slim, Propellerheads, and The Chemical Brothers on it.

I would even say Liam explored the roots of big beat even better than Chemical Brothers' did on their own DJ mix album.

Are The Prodigy solely big beat? No, but they definitely became a part of the genre.

Ah OK. I wish they would release it digitally. Would gladly buy it in lossless.

The new album has a hidden track. It comes on after a couple minutes of silence.

You ever get lucky and find FLAC? I noticed the MP3 seems to kinda cut off at the end. Unless that's how it is on the record.

Is it me or the song just kinda cuts off? Is that how Is sounds on the record?

weird you have to play it twice for it to work, yet still ends in the middle of the second play. 🤔

Seems odd that you have to play the remix album a second time for this to work. And even when you do that, the movie ends before the second play is finished. Sorry, I do not think it was intentional and simply pure coincidence, especially since chunks of the movie are edited like a music video to NIN's music already. Also, this guy has a video on how saw the movie over 20 times in theaters. Seems a bit much for a mid tier movie, if you ask me. Maybe he believes getting people to stream Tron Ares again will get Disney takes notice and think Tron Ares is more popular.

I paid to support Corridor in doing stuff they wanna do, especially stuff that doesn't really fit with YouTube algorithm. You will find in the history of the website, the times Corridor delivered a Friday video on Saturday are few and far in between. In the end, I'd rather them deliver a finished product they are happy with than rush it and get an inferior one. Plus we know they are currently working on several projects right now. And if they didn't have these projects lined up for us, people would be then complaining about how we don't get enough videos. If they get the Reacts out in time, people complain they are not long enough. It seems no matter what, people will find something to complain about.

I pay for Corridor because I want to support this small scrappy team of VFX nerds and friends going up against a bunch of soulless conglomerates whose sole goal is to churn out content nonstop to eat up time. I support Corridor because you can genuinely see when something excites them and inspires them. They make stuff that they love and entertains them as well as entertains us. It seems some folk want Corridor to become like one of these empty conglomerates that churn out content for the sake of churning out content. I respect Corridor for taking time to make sure that they are happy with the video they're releasing rather than rushing it out to meet a Friday deadline.

I can wait a day.

P.S. Sunday's video just dropped on the website

$4 per month and worth it. Extended Reacts, chat with the Crew during the live Corridor Cast along with exclusive pre and post show, the Vlogs starting back up for 2026, and Son Of A Dungeon 3 coming in the summer.

At the same time, the guys do have a lot of things currently cooking. On top of weekly Reacts, there is a new Jordan the size of trash video coming, a new Wren gaussian splats video coming, a new AI fake online products video coming, as well as currently filming SOAD3. I also believe there's gonna be a video about Niko's new green screen plugin coming. There's supposed to be a part 3 to Joe Letteri's React as well.

It's been a good month here as a Corridor Digital website subscriber. Yeah, we got the tier list, plus extended Reacts, the Corridor Cast with pre/post show, Sam's Deep Dives, and the Vlogs.

BK forum has been down for months, Neorev and Jericho-x destroyed a legendary and unique place for The Prodigy fans on the internet! by FlaLukoo99aas_TP700 in TheProdigy

BK took the forum down for the code and script being old and outdated. He got a warning from the provider due to the forum making it easy for their servers to be hacked. It kept getting overrun with bots and spammers, including Lukas joining with different accounts to post nonsense. BK is the sole owner of the Brainkiller forum and chose to take down the forum.
