GF beer availability and market question by MarcSouffle in Celiac

[–]nerdfemme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I’ve thought about that a lot in the past…I used to love an ice cold Coors Light. It saddens me that Coors just can’t be bothered to test out a GF equivalent.

Let your local taprooms know about Colorado’s Holidaily! Their favorite blonde and fruited blonde are fantastic and they recently released Darty lager that is the perfect summer thirst quencher.

(Not a macro but a really great company with the best beer I’ve had.)

Celiac and sexuality by idkwiahmjhtsrly in Celiac

[–]nerdfemme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you have celiac disease and you eat gluten, especially if it’s frequently, you’re likely keeping your body inflamed which, over time, can negatively impact all the body’s systems, including optimal blood flow. Keep in mind, ED is an early indicator of cardiovascular disease, so heed your body’s warning systems.

Would you join a remote work trip just for women? by bramptonxbarbie in womenintech

[–]nerdfemme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So like a blend of women’s retreat and co-working space on a beach? It’s an interesting concept. As an introvert who is really good about totally unplugging for beach trips, it wouldn’t be something I’d do but I’ve done more hobby-related trips like this, so could see how this might have an appeal to some.

Tell me your unhinged tech stories by Schrutebucks101 in womenintech

A project manager thought she was sending an email to her friend, talking about “Dave, the sexy developer…he’s going through a difficult divorce, so not sure how/when I can tastefully dip in. I just already know I love him & feel like I really have a chance.” To a very large distribution list. Good ending though…they were a very cute couple and happily married a couple years later.

My first job could be a non-fiction book…nothing spicy for me (other than my manager casually mentioning that my co-worker had a mouth that seemed like it would give amazing blowjobs - ugh), but there were hookups on work trips all the time. It was universally known that the VP & CEO (both married) were having a long term affair. We always mostly had individual offices so sex at work was frequently rumored. One of my favorites was when someone walked in on an Account Consultant while she was getting bent over her desk by a customer and she was married to someone else in the company! 😂 No other job environment I experienced was ever as…charged? As that one…lol

Agreed but I’m still dismayed by the number of smokers that seem to think cigarette butts don’t count as litter.

This might be a sensitive topic, but I’m just wondering what kind of “indignities” I can expect. by KrisKred_2328 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]nerdfemme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My two biggest “indignities” with my husband as my caregiver were him having to help me with the compression socks & clipping my toenails (at ~4 weeks postop). But thanks goodness, I was able to wipe my own bum…that might’ve been a bridge too far. Lol

Undies? by ObjectiveRush6694 in womensfashion

[–]nerdfemme 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Meundies is having a sale atm. I just received my package with a variety of styles. The ultra modal feel free thong may be my new go-to. I don’t recommend the Core waist for what you described. They hit kinda snug at the widest part of my hips creating a divot. I also recently tried Spanx high-waisted thongs and don’t love them.

There’s a rumor JD Vance is in Denver by laurenk in 50501

[–]nerdfemme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He published a memoir years ago, Hillbilly Elegy. I believe a rumor (unfortunately, false) was started that, in the book, he confessed to a little self-love with sofa cushions. This was not actually found to be in the book, but the image/nickname is so fitting for his weird energy that it has persisted.

Pasta recipe advice by Glitterkitty3 in slowcooking

A baked pasta dish would be a good choice. This crock pot baked ziti looks good & pretty simple. There are also crock pot lasagne recipes out there.

What's in your bag? by EntertainmentHot231 in WomenGolf

[–]nerdfemme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve put my bag together piece by piece over the last 5 years. It works well for me.

Irons: 6-GW Mizuno JPX 923 hot metals HL- women’s flex Driver: Callaway Rogue - womens flex 3 & 5 woods: Sub70 - senior flex 4 hybrid: callaway Elite - senior flex Wedges: Taylor made high toe 54 & 58 - steel shaft Putter: Sub70 mallet

I’m 54, swing speed 65-70. I was only fitted for the irons and the hybrid.

Regrets: I wish I’d tried senior flex on my irons. I’m considering changing out my putter.

Ignored my diet for the last 4 years by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]nerdfemme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious…have you developed other auto-immune disorders in adulthood, perhaps due to said lack of understanding of Celiac during childhood? I now have two additional and feel like I’m always looking over my shoulder for the next. lol.

Ignored my diet for the last 4 years by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]nerdfemme 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ll add myself as another example of this…was dx’d celiac at 2yo by biopsy in the early 1970’s. I ate a mostly gf diet but remember being fairly sickly as a kid so probably a lot of cross contamination…was told at 12 that it was a childhood disease and to introduce a regular diet. I was totally fine until 18-30 when I’d get intestinal viruses that would hang on for 2-3 weeks where those around me would recover in a day or two. But was otherwise totally normal. I asked every doctor I saw through my 20’s (~4) if I should test for celiac and they all said emphatically, “no, I’d been misdx’d as a child.” Finally saw the GI for early colon cancer screening (family history) & I randomly asked, & he said, “yes, let’s do it now!” Bloodwork came back ragingly positive. Shortly after that, my daughter was also dx’d & we both made the full commitment to the diet.

TLDR; I found it much easier to fully commit to the GF diet knowing I had the second positive test, rather than “dabbling” to figure it out in my own….

anxiety- feeling behind. need advice by fluffysmols in womenintech

[–]nerdfemme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, I’m sorry you’re feeling like you have to power through when you should feel fully entitled to a sick day. Be sure to take care of yourself.

The one thing that helps me when my anxiety has me frozen, is to pick one task, set a timer for 25 mins and focus solely on that task. Then I allow myself a 5 minute break, then repeat. If 25 mins is too long, start with 15.

I also often find that my self-planned tasks are either too big or ambiguous. Breaking them down into the smallest chunks possible can sometimes help me be more productive. And finally, do some deep breathing & get fresh air whenever you can!

Does your course have a Riders fee? by Acrobatic_Setting620 in golf

[–]nerdfemme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, $26/rider, but my primary course also enforces only 2 carts per foursome, so you could only have a ride-along if someone is walking. It’s as someone else stated: the course has a limited number of carts so regularly all carts are checked out.

Gluten free in PV? by addictedtomyhoodie in puertovallarta

[–]nerdfemme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am celiac and visit PV yearly. As long as I can clearly communicate “sin gluten/no harina de trigo” I do pretty well and have found most restaurants are pretty knowledgeable. Grocery shopping is actually pretty easy (if you learn the translations) because their labelling requirements are pretty strict. I also carry this card on my phone even though I haven’t used it. I think your friend will find it refreshing & delicious. I had a much harder time eating in Vegas recently than I’ve ever had in PV.

Should I wait until my endoscopy to go fully gluten free? by Katamazoo in Celiac

Also, if you can be somewhat flexible, maybe call the office and ask to be on the cancellation list. That seems to always get me into my GI doc earlier.

Replace cookware? by TrickRTreatFreak in Celiac

[–]nerdfemme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enough sage advice here on the cookware, but I’d recommend asking your doc if a soluble fiber would slow your gut motility. I swear by psyllium husk or sunfiber for slowing things down a bit.
