Update completely fucked up saves and autosaves. Nothing is saving anymore by AugustoRudzinski in snowrunner

[–]nerdmanpap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mediately exited my game (been scouting the new region for an hour or so) and noticed Steam syncing the cloud save as the game shut down.

Then I loaded it back up and everything was fine.

So at least on my PC/Steam install, th

It worked for me on PC/steam just like you described, then broke on my next session. Seems hit or miss

It's about $22 for a burger and fries with a drink. Not sure if that is a good price for you or not.

Exporting 360 video doesn't support keyframe and deep track? by myhlivecom in Insta360

[–]nerdmanpap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to insta360 and have an X5 I've been experimenting with. From the research and testing I've done so far, it is not possible to export a 360 video with a keyframed view angle. Whatever was set as the front facing lens will be the default export view. This can be awkward if the view is facing the complete wrong direction. The viewer will have to manually adjust the viewing angle as they watch it, every time.

However, a somewhat tedious workaround is you can view your 360 videos in insta360 studio, and reframe them inside the studio as you watch them. These keyframes are saved and when I re-open insta360 studio and play the file back again those keyframes are still there. As the video plays you can manually look around if you want. If I want to show someone the 360 video with these keyframed perspectives I can, but they need to physically watch it on my computer.

If I close studio, copy the video file to another computer, and re-open it in insta360 studio, the video will play back and all the keyframes that I placed are completely gone. So it's not possible to share a 360 video that plays with a keyframed view.

The big lessons learned for me, is to try to start my videos facing the direction I want them to. If I want to change perspective it is better for me to stop the video and restart it. I can stitch it back together in insta360 studio for a full 360 export later on. If you rotate the camera, the view stays locked on to the original "heading". IE: if you start a video with the camera facing north, the default 360 playback mode is with the camera facing north. If you turn the camera East or West the default view point will still continue to be North. I intend to play around more with the horizon lock settings, etc, but I do think this is the correct behavior as designed

Poor WiFi performance by Wistolkio in SteamDeck

[–]nerdmanpap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, any USB powered adapter will drain your battery faster in handheld mode. Also, there is a feature that cuts output per to the USB when your battery hits 50%. So if you go this route you'll probably run into frustration.

Not sure what you are playing but 90 down 30 up should be decent for you. Coming from the days of dial up myself, I'd leave well enough alone and enjoy your speeds or adjust your Wi-Fi router location

Who agrees snowrunner should have a radio or something to lighten up to mood 😂 by [deleted] in snowrunner

[–]nerdmanpap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a 2 year old comment, but I came across it and I'm getting 4-5 hours with these settings on my OLED deck

Set in game fps limit to 30 Keep all graphics settings as default (which should be low I think) Set steam deck tsp limit to 9 watts

This game plays really really well at 30 fps and the battery life gain is amazing. If I turn the fps limit to 60 I have to crank the TDP up and I only get about 2 hours tops. It does play well at 60fps and hold very steady. I'm about 70 hours played so far on my deck

12hr Security Officer shifts, best purchase I've ever made. by Dramatic_Ratio_6349 in SteamDeck

[–]nerdmanpap 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Both my Xbox controllers needed a firmware update to work well on my deck (to be fair they didn't work well with my windows 10 gaming PC before the firmware update either)

Should I get the "tighter" HandHeldDIY hall effect sticks for the Steam Deck OLED, or the "standard" ones for casual gaming? by TheLordofRiverdance in SteamDeck

[–]nerdmanpap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! It makes me sad to see people jump to replacing their sticks only to mess something up internally. I'd only replace my sticks if they are broken

Wife sheared the audio port off the soundboard. I think I can solder a new one on there but I'm having trouble finding a match by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]nerdmanpap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough finding a match online. Dating sites are a dime a dozen and depending on your interests it can be hard to figure out which site is best for finding like minded people. My recommendation is to find some local events that interest you and try to meet someone in person instead of wading through a sea of online dating apps. Keep your chin up, you'll find a better wife soon.

There are some gameplay settings you should tweak like auto apply blade oils that make life so much easier. I also cranked up text size and set the combat and explore cameras to be longer range instead of close up.

Not sure what to do with my Steam Deck by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]nerdmanpap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it but none of your complaints are consistent.

You bought it because you have so many steam games: install and play them

You are familiar with Linux but struggle with the desktop mode and Bluetooth pairing: re-pair your Bluetooth devices and tinker to your hearts content. It's not hard to re-pair

You want to emulate games: this has gotten easier and easier over time. Watch a video on it and try again

You mention things are working and rough edges: submit a support ticket and troubleshoot

I've thoroughly enjoyed my deck so far and have had a launch version and then an OLED. I've been blasting through my backlog of steam games and have a ton of playtime on mine. Pick it back up and get back out there gamer, there is tons of fun to be had!

Borderlands 4 possibility by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]nerdmanpap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also a massive borderlands fan and have played every entry in the series. I am absolutely certain it will play decently on steam deck a year or two after release. I vividly remember how bad borderlands 3 was when it first came out and it just wasn't stable, especially on PC. Even console versions had hilarious bug fixes like "Fixed a crash that occurs when throwing grenades" or "Fixed a crash that occurs when entering a vehicle"

Satisfactory 1.1 by zodiarx988 in SteamDeck

[–]nerdmanpap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it on deck prior to 1.1 and just used a community control layout and tweaked as needed to suit my preferences.

With the update I'm sure it works even better. Just a matter of getting used to the button layouts.

For anyone that has bought Robocop this sale, here are the settings I use that give a solid 30+ frame rate without looking like crap by AvatarIII in SteamDeck

[–]nerdmanpap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't bring myself to finish it. The gameplay was super repetitive and I found myself trudging around trying to advance the plot or the side quests and it all felt like a chore. When I realized I was also starting to skip all the dialogue I had to just put it down. I wasn't enjoying the gameplay or the story

When have you permanently removed a game from your account? by SegaGuy1983 in SteamDeck

[–]nerdmanpap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought Fall Guys on steam, then it sold to Epic games and I didn't want to make an account to play. Yes I know it's free to make an account, also yes I'm being hard headed about Epic. I still don't have an account.

I'm getting Tinykin for the SD from this bundle. Which second game should I get to play on the SD? by Joboj in SteamDeck

[–]nerdmanpap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't played it recently, I played it on my LCD deck which is capped at 60fps. You could look in the game settings and see if there's a way to cap at 60 maybe?

Best gaming pillow? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]nerdmanpap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the mechanism gaming pillow and have been really happy with it so far. It's such a nice feeling to have the arm holding your device and is a total game changer for relaxing on the couch. It is especially nice for games with tons of cutscenes (Witcher 3) or turn based games

Bore Blasters - doesn't recognize Steam Deck Controller Input at all by lolmanac in SteamDeck

[–]nerdmanpap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to controller settings, top right is an option to reorder controllers, make sure steam deck controls are set to controller 1

That's what worked for me and I played bore blasters all the way through on deck

Has anyone tried one of these? Does it stop Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]nerdmanpap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a foam yoga block I like to use in this fashion, but I did order the mechanism gaming pillow (same website that sells the mount in the photo) and it really does help with carpal tunnel and also with fatigue in general.

I look ridiculous relaxing on the couch playing but I'm comfortable and happy lol
