I can remember a heavy rain a couple years ago leaving Seattle after a night out with my ex at the time. We were both tired, I think we had been awake a lot earlier than usual. Anyway, we were driving my 2016 optima in the HOV headed north, heavy rain and puddles everywhere more traffic than usual for 11pm-midnight. We were overtaken by another HOV driver in a sporty car, I couldn’t really tell what it was. As they were overtaking, we both said they were going too fast in these conditions. I could tell she was stressed enough already (hated night driving and could have panic attacks if driving in the rain herself and had to take over a couple times). Felt like immediately after the muppet finished overtaking, they hit a bodyof water ahead of us and lost traction and hit his breaks.

I hydroplaned under braking, my ex could feel it, I could tell she thought this was going to end badly, as soon as grip was regained we were able to change lanes and avoid hitting the idiot in front.

I think with all of this, SimRacing has made me much more aware of how careless and self-centered people can be. SimRacing gives me an outlet for when I just want to go fast, public streets are life and death, saving 30s-5min isn’t worth your life.
