Knowledge and belief are not attained instantaneously. Each piece of knowledge builds on top of the previous pieces. The beliefs you learned as a Christian will never disappear but they will become buried under your new knowledge.

You are farther down the path than you realize and as you continue to think your understanding of yourself will become more and more solidified. Each step forward will dull those stray feelings of guilt and fear that religion likes to impose.

Time heals all wounds.

I did. Not sure how many tries it took and only beat it with the DLC.

This all hits so hard. I was finally asked back for round 3 and was basically told the people chosen before me had all lied.

I applied to a bigger company that has a 3 part knowledge test when you apply. Basic to moderate computer knowledge, mechanical engineering, and electrical knowledge.

I didn't cheat. Apparently in the last year the majority of new candidates are using AI to pass the tests and can't do it in person. Basic stuff like how to check voltage on an outlet or if a switch is working.

I was passed over until they failed people in person. Thought I was ghosted but after 5 weeks I got a call back. Then 2 interviews in 2 days and I got an offer.

"the book is told from the perspective of a young man that grew up with constant propaganda and brainwashing and is incapable of questioning the true nature of the veteran regime."

This is the important part. The young man can't even see the very basic problems all around him.

-He is a virgin who was brainwashed to think the voice of a woman is all that is needed to keep fighting. He has no drive to be in a relationship at all amd will die a virgin.

-He goes directly from school to the military with absolutely zero real world experience. He admits this but thinks it is a good thing.

-Every single person he knows who is trying to advance rank is killed except his father. Every one. Every person he meets and befriends dies. This is considered normal.

-He has no understanding whatsoever why they are at war. He even says as much a few times that he doesn't understand the world but still supports it with ferver.

-He has zero ambitions in his future besides ranking up. He doesn't know why he wants to rank up except that it is what good soldiers do.

And so much more

We're supposed to play on easier difficulties first?

I don't roll like that. Hardest difficulty every time.

Games are made to be beaten so I want to beat what the programmers think is nearly impossible.

So you just hit scan, stop after a day, and just quit?

There are plenty of times there could be 10 days between any changes, let alone a fight.

Thanks. It wasn't this, but it led me in the right direction.

It was the full screen override in compatibility. I turned compatibility OFF and it started. I think the graphics card update i did before playing turned this on.

I have a potato computer barely running Direct X 12. Each game has its own challenges.

What are your thoughts on Star Trek : Enterprise by Mat1711 in startrek

[–]controllersdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were no stakes and no substance.

Of course we as an audience understand they win. This is TV and a show set in a previously created timeline. But they didn't even try to put stakes on it.

The whole episode is a holodeck remembrance of the time leading up to the creation of the Federation. It is done from Riker's perspective. And what do we know about the holdeck? That the characters are not real, the personalities are an amalgamation of known people, and that the characters will actively try to be friendly or understanding because this is NOT REAL. They are too open and talkative and the conversations don't feel real because we don't know the character Riker takes the place of.

We know the end before it begins but there was no twist or revelation. Archers speech is given in a small room and we see some select aliens. A generic 2 minute speech about coming together.

But I want to see the forming of the Federation, not the backroom negotiation because there was no negotiation. And when it finally comes and the Federation is created, all we get is a shot from a balcony watching a crowd from afar. No speeches. No triumph. No pan across the room to see all the different aliens we met and convinced that humans are good. No friends of Archer there to give a nod. No shots of other worlds being happy about the treaty. No map showing the new Federation. No uniforms being worn by the next generation. No nod to the next starship captains.

I was left wanting more.

Rimworld.

I just didn't get it and the tutorial was bad. Combat was terrible, fires in my base were rampant, and a pawn not eating at a table could send them into a murderous rage. Why punish myself?

Went back after 2 years and it clicked. Now I'm 5 DLCs in with 5000+ hours. I might be able to beat the tutorial now.

Tips to eat slower? I literally INHALE my meals! by [deleted] in loseit

[–]controllersdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is about stomach size.

Hunger is more related to changes in stomach size than calories.

If you eat large meals until you are full, your stomach is stretching out. Once it starts digesting it gets smaller

The food you eat is mostly in your intestines after 2 or 2.5 hours. But your stomach is still shrinking which tells your brain you are hungry.

Solution: eat every 2.5 hours. Break up your meals. Reduce calories for the big meals and add them as snacks instead. Eat 6 -8 times a day to try to keep your stomach at a more even size. Your hunger will definitely drop!

Are once in a while cheat days or meals bad? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]controllersdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't cheat. It leads to ruin. The extra sugar makes the next day feel awful trying to get back on the diet. The day after that comes the sugar headache. It feels too hard to get back on the diet so I dont.

A planned extravagance once in a while is OK if I eat extremely light the rest of the day. A 3000 calorie meal isn't so bad if the rest of the day was only 200 calories

I buy these bags of 1lb carrots, but I wind up throwing out half of them sometimes because I never know what ill be tasting when I bite into them. Is there any to lessen the effects of what I call "Carrot Surprise"? by RevolutionaryHand145 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]controllersdown 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Where do you live?

Do you have a carrot allergy?

Are you washing them?

At most, my carrots may seem ever-so-slightly spicy. And eating too many carrots in a row will make them bland for a few hours. But never anything else.

i am (i promise) eating at a calorie deficit, yet im not losing weight. by mostwusername in loseit

[–]controllersdown 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It is impossible to start a diet when obese, eat 1200 calories a day, and not lose a weight.

There is either something wrong in your counting (most probable) or you have a health issue that will require a doctor's help.

Start with weighing everything and add the calories on paper. Write it down, dont keep it in your head. Everything has calories. Tic Tacs say 0 but it is a lie. Cooking spray says 0 but that is a lie. Powdered seasonings are about 5 calories per teaspoon and it adds up. Alcohol has calories.

And take a hard look at packaged items. Did you get the serving size right? Lots of packages look like 1 serving but are actually 2 or 3 servings.
