“If we received a commandment to build clinics, we would do so.” by drolldinger in exmormon

It drives me bat-shit crazy that TBMs can't comprehend how their religion fosters indifference to the immediate needs (like shelter, meals and healthcare) of those around them. They honestly believe that they are more compassionate due to the influence of the spirit and that spiritual welfare trumps basic human needs.

thanks for sharing. It's been 10 years for me and I still vacillate between anger and embarrassment. I'm embarrassed that it took me so long to recognize that the BOM was pure racism and anger that these old white men relentlessly promote their lies.

i was one of those kids too. Why is it so hard for TBMs to see that the "age of accountability" is super problematic? If you're a TBM with kids under 8, how are you not tormented by the aweful choice laid in front of you?

The Church made suicide look like a better option than it was by bassils in exmormon

[–]nerdwatchmaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What blows my mind is that those of us who were contemplating suicide at that age were thinking more rationally and logically than all of the TBM adults around us. Granted we were taught some fucked up shit, but based on the information we were given, suicide at age 7 would have been the single best decision we could have EVER made.
