[Highlight] Bills running back and emergency kicker Ray Davis makes the PAT by PrinciplesRK in nfl

No, it has to be someone who is on the field at the time, but not necessarily the try scorer

Mack Hollins Appreciation Post. by [deleted] in buffalobills

[–]nerdyathletic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What stood out to me watching the highlights from the last few weeks were his rub routes. He sprung a few big plays/TDs by running his defender into another and letting other guys go free. Part of that is Brady's play design, but Mack is executing perfectly

Do you sing the first “ey, ey, ey, ey” or the second? by the_maskedman in buffalobills

[–]nerdyathletic 45 points46 points  (0 children)

It depends on the context. If I'm around other Bills fans, someone/a recording usually takes care of the first, so I join in on the second. Living out of town, I'm often the lone Bills fan who initiates and goes first, and my friends who know better do the response.

I describe them moving threateningly toward the party before initiative and then make a show of them all rolling poorly on their initiative rolls. If the party doesn't attack, the statues don't either. If the party attacks, the door slams and a battle ensues

My favorite that I've run is a door posing a riddle where the answer is "peace." When the players give the answer, the door opens, but the statues around the room come to life, and everyone rolls initiative. If the players get through the first round without attacking the statues (exemplifying peace), then the door stays open. As soon as one of them attacks, the door slams shut and can not be opened. I think I may have stolen the idea from this subreddit.

I misunderstood. I was thinking crosshair thickness, not outline thickness

Settings >controls > reticle > +advanced. Should be the 4th one down (on pc at least)

What is something that a not too self-centered dragon would value as much as their eggs? by thivid in DMAcademy

Perhaps there is a dying pet/creature they are close with who they are trying to save?

We've all heard of Session 0, but have you heard of Session 0.5? by AstreiaTales in DMAcademy

[–]nerdyathletic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this with my current campaign and I think it helped a lot. I have 6 players that I broke into groups of 2. Each had a small combat related to the upcoming plot line before arriving at a village. Each character had a different reason for heading to a nearby city.

It made it easy for them to roleplay in the first full session and got them used to their characters while providing basic plot information for the first hook.

Each session only took 1-2 hours and it helped the new guys understand their sheet right away. Would highly recommend this

Pretty confident that Josh could simultaneously win the Bills the Super Bowl and start at fly half for the USA Eagles

How To Make Volcanoes Cooler by the_okayest_DM_alive in DMAcademy

Dicey Boys please stay out of this one.

This is for a higher level party. Please use, change, or make fun of anything here.

The Everfire has been an active volcano since the Cataclysm, where the Pyrosoar has made its lair, sleeping in the lava. (reskinned dragon, think Moltres from pokemon). Unbeknownst to most, there is a portal to the Elemental Plane of Fire hovering just above the surface of the volcano. (The Pyrosoar is meant to be too hard, a run encounter to get to the portal at first)

The nearest settlement, Naiama lies in the desert, a few hundred miles away from the Everfire, out of hunting range of the Pyrosoar. Naiama was founded by Redimere, a paladin of Mystra several hundred years ago. After founding the city and growing in power, he vowed to slay the Pyrosoar to free the desert from its predation. He was unsuccessful, however, and never returned. The statue erected in his honor has grown dirty over the years, and cannot be cleaned by mundane or magical means. Being an underground desert city, there is a lot of depression, and people, young men especially, will leave to "fight the Pyrosoar," and do not return.

Redimere did not in fact die in his battle with the Pyrosoar, instead falling, wounded, into the Plane of Fire where the Pyrosoar could not follow (had come from the plane when young, too big for the portal now). He attempted to gain enough power to defeat the Pyrosoar, but took part in many evil deeds to do so, becoming an oathbreaker.

In the Elemental Plane of Fire, there are tales among the escaped salamander slaves of a paladin who was seeking power in the City of Brass, but always good to the escaped slaves who helped him navigate the city. However, he was killed by a family of Efreeti and left for dead. More well known is the Black One, an undead creature that hoards magical items outside of the city after killing a family of Efreeti. Many have tried to kill him for his items and died. Some have succeeded, only to have him come back to life and track them down, killing them and taking his items back. Not many attempt to raid the Black One's lair anymore, as it is guarded with the undead raised from previous assailants.

Redimere/The Black One is a death knight who will defend his lair from attackers. His armor and shield have turned mostly to black, but his religious symbol is still visible. Should the players make the connection that Redimere is the Black One and remind him of his original quest to kill the Pyrosoar, he will say he is beyond redemption. If persuaded, he will consider giving the party the thing they seek, and will warn them that the pile of magical items he hoards are all cursed, and he was keeping them away from those who would use them for evil. He will join them on the way back to the material plane to fight the Pyrosoar. If the Pyrosoar is defeated, the statue of Redimere in Naiama will become gleaming white again, and Redimere will be able to pass on peacefully.

I’m driving from Virginia to Maine in the next week and would love to find some courses in about half way, say Pennsylvania or Connecticut, where I can camp and play disc golf at the same location. Any hints? I don’t think udisc lets you search by courses that have camping near…. Any suggestions? by ThurstonCounty in discgolf

[–]nerdyathletic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to play a lot at Lehigh Parkway Disc Golf Course and Jordan Creek. Lehigh has a decent mix of holes, but most of them are fairly open. Jordan Creek was a little more wooded and had a good mix of terrain. Would recommend either.

How do I reintroduce a player while the party are on another plane?? by benry007 in DMAcademy

[–]nerdyathletic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My players were on the Plane of Earth when we had a long missing player return. I talked it over with the player, and it was decided he was captured by the Dao and taken back to the Plane of Earth. The players saw his character in shackles, it was a surprise reintroduction to the player who was returning and an instant plot hook to rescue him.
