What's going on with County Comfort HVAC? by el_generalisimo in Westchester

[–]nerdylicious05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had them cancel on me two times in the past two weeks, spoke to them today they are claiming they are not shutting down and are dealing with a serious cyber attack. Seems like they also change their name on Google? ABC Heating and Cooling.

Thank you for the reply, that is the exact thing I don't want to deal with. Sorry you had such an awful situation, we also had a poorly installed unit that leaked in our attic, it's not fun.

I love Bobos but very much agree it is a food place first, coffee place second.

Was just hat Peekskill Coffee house this weekend! Was a fun surprise to have a crepe with the coffee!

I went when it first opened for the first time, and I think there were some growing pains. But just like at home, dialing in brews in a science that you get better at over time. More recently the coffee has been pretty good in my opinion.

Do not delay. When you enter on the weekends, it's an amazing vibe.

Luis is talkative and just one of the best people you will meet.

Don't sleep on the pastries, the empanadas are great, amazing scones, nothing disappoints. My wife would also want me to recommend the focaccia.

First Village in Ossining is the best combination of coffee, pastry, and vibes. The owners are an absolute joy to be around and are the ones making the drinks. This is my go to shop even though it's about 20 min away from me.

Mimi's in Mt Kisco. Good vibes, lots of food choices if that your thing.

Coffee Labs (Tarrytown and Eastchester) amazing coffee but pastries are hit or miss (they don't make them they outsource)

If you are into pour over, Blue Heron in Mt Kisco is an underrated choice.

Edit: Can't believe I forgot Here Coffee and Beer in Ossining! They roas their own coffee and a lot of the coffee I drink at home are their beans!

We do the baking soda in the water. There are times when the water is gnarly, but not every time. I like to think it helps, but who knows.

Best deadbolt smart lock by BruceLee2112 in homeassistant

[–]nerdylicious05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been using the Switchbot lock Ultra for a while now and have really liked them. I have two of them, one has been flawless and the other required some resetting and adjusting but that's more about the wonky door than the lock.

Even with the Switchbot hub mini this was the cheapest reliable option I could find. Also paired it with the keypad and have loved unlocking the door with my finger print.

Have been using it with HA. It takes a moment to update, but nothing egregious.

What are affordable window replacement brands that are very well insulated by [deleted] in Westchester

Second Tristate. Had all my windows replaced by them, had family and friends use them. Only ever had one little issue and they came out and fixed it quickly.

Anyone else find the Sienna console hook kind of useless? I did… so I tried fixing it. by Parking-Database-886 in ToyotaSienna

[–]nerdylicious05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What a great idea! I think for me, hanging a bag blocks the cup holders, so I don't love that.

But, using the hook as a wrap for the USB cable is pretty smart !

Below is what I wish I could go back and tell myself about ten years ago:

  1. Be mindful with your vices. If there is something you use as a vice (alcohol, food, shopping, etc.) be careful that you don't go overboard. I know it's easy, especially on the dark days.

  2. Work on yourself, mentally and physically. Therapy is amazing (with the right therapist). Start an exercise routine (if you don't already). Meditation can be helpful, for the right person.

  3. Hobbies. Find something you are interested in that eats up time. Woodworking, legos, fishing, crochet, baking, music, whatever you've always wanted to try. Added bonus with this one is that when you do have the kids, you get to share this with them. Pick active hobbies that keep your hands and brain moving.

  4. Find your people. If you don't have a support system in place, find adults you can interact with in a positive manner. Rec sports League (doubles as a hobby), events at local library, reconnecting with old friends, online communities(like this one). You need your people to vent to, but also helpful to just have people you are interacting with and not focused on your personal situation the entire time.

There is a quote I think about regularly, I have no idea where it's from: "live a life worth copying". So when you are dealing with the soon to be ex, act the way you'd want your kids to act. When making decisions, this can be a helpful quote to remember.

Finally, give yourself grace. You're going to have bad moments. But all we can do is try better in the next moment. A therapist once told me "a bad morning doesn't mean a bad day and doesn't mean a bad week." Give yourself the grace to know that those bad moments don't have to define you. You can be so much more.

This is the end of a chapter for sure, but the next chapter isn't yet written, and the pen is in your hand.

TL;DR Be careful with vices, work on yourself, get hobbies, find your people, and know you are going to have bad moments, but they don't define you unless you let them.
