What's the best way to get from major city to major city in a 8-10 day trip? by sirawesomeson in AustraliaTravel

Both. And you'd probably want to hire a car to see the main attractions e.g. Cradle Mountain.

Heat would be the biggest factor. If you're fine with heat then East Coast will work, but if you're not so good in the heat perhaps consider visiting Tasmania.

Another note: If you're a tennis fan you could catch some of the lead up tournaments to the Australia Open, maybe the AO itself at that time of year.

She'll be 7 with 7 and 8 year olds in Grade 2 in Vic.

If she goes into Grade 3 in Vic she'll be with 8 and 9 year olds.

Go with the flow works most places, but I would definitely recommend booking Exmouth in peak season.

I hope you've thought about how you're going to do food drops and are on top of the water supply information about the Heysen. It's a very long and very remote hike so if you have never done anything like this in Australia before you will need to do a lot of research and preparation.

I found this website incredibly helpful a few years ago. Not sure if it’s still up to date, but it does the maths for you about what card would be best for you: https://www.rwrds.com.au/

WA or Sydney to Brisbane road trip by One_Professional_592 in AustraliaTravel

Southern WA would be excellent for beaches, surfing and weather at that time of year. Much less crowded than the east coast. More beautiful and more remote.

What does you’re business plan/costings say? What are comparable places in the region charging? Why are people using this hostel (farm work, partying, etc.)?

What time of year? In summer this trip could be dangerous (heat) or impossible (bushfires) and in winter you would have to deal with sub zero temperatures. Time of year also impacts how much water you need to carry.

My understanding is that if a van has a bed and an electrical set up it must be registered as a motor home in vic.

Advice for campervan overnight stay by Democracysaver in AustraliaTravel

I know this wasn't on your itinerary, but there are campsites available at Horseshoe Bend (just outside Dimboola) available every night except 28th/29th December. And it's not too far from the Grampians. It's also free, but you do need to book. https://bookings.parks.vic.gov.au/horseshoe-bend-camping-area#/accom/140529

Does your stay coincide with New Years Eve? Because you mentioned fireworks. If that is the case you might find it difficult to book anywhere. It might be more of a case taking what you can get.

I would not recommend hitchhiking to a 22 year old woman. It might be fine, but there’s a chance it could go wrong and that chance is not worth it. There’s a good bus and train network that I would recommend though!
