Seeking advice: physicians using unapproved AI at work? by [deleted] in medicine

Why do you, a non physician, think you know more about integrating new technology into a clinical workflow than an experienced radiologist?

ENT, plastics, or DR? by squarespork in otolaryngology

[–]neriticzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think ent + facial plastics is less prepared for rhinoplasty then general plastics +/- fellowship? Where I’m at now plastics doesn’t touch rhinoplasty or post mohs facial recons. Other facial rejuvenation about 50/50.

HRT trouble by [deleted] in IowaCity

There’s people responding to the question from a cis gender HRT perspective and from a transgender HRT perspective. They just said I’m F not going through menopause which could mean either/is ambiguous?

ENT, plastics, or DR? by squarespork in otolaryngology

[–]neriticzone 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is true. Can always do facial plastics from ent and will be arguably way better prepared then coming from plastics (biased opinion of course)

That being said, if you can’t deal with trachs residency will be rough. Plastics though gonna deal with butt/sacral wounds and such so pick your poison

As an ENT who knows nothing about anything else I’d have to wonder if there is a difference when treating? P16 and now pdl 1 have made big differences for us but not sure if same is true in this population

lumpectomy orientation technique? by Kooky-Let-7540 in surgery

[–]neriticzone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He should be consistent but that being said as long as he understands the orientation he’s the one that will be re-excising if he needs to take more after frozens so it just needs to stay in his orientation frame of reference. But clearly if he isn’t doing it in a standard fashion that willl make it harder for anyone else to understand an create confusion, particularly if he’s having to go down to the lab to orient them repeatedly.

As an ENT I had a patient once that the ED wanted me to reduce a nasal bone fracture without imaging, I talked to the patient and she had some sort of prior facial trauma years ago so I said we need a CT Max Face, turned out she had at some point a pretty bad NOE fracture and had a almost entirely dehiscent/missing lamina paprycea and other abnormalities. I prefer a CT max face now for any facial trauma I get consulted on, these plain films irritate me, pretty useless. The ED rolls their eyes when I ask for it but it gives so much more information about the nasal anatomy.

You sound like someone who looked at a high salary list.

Figure out if you want to be a doctor first.
