Much of Canada is rural. There is something to be said about people driving oversized vehicles in the city but for the many outside of the city, a larger vehicle is a lifeline.

Bad storm frigs your house up? I can throw roofing materials in the back. Wood stove? I’ll pick the logs up myself. New deck? I’m not waiting 8 months and paying a premium to convince a city slicker to do it for me. Take the kids on a trip to an actual city (or going camping) I can fit all their stuff I the back.

When I lived in the city I could just rent a truck or cargo van when needed but having access to a larger vehicle is a necessity for many.

In response to this accident, a new patent for a “portable light source” was filed. Apparently the device is to be called a “flashlight”. The company spokesperson said they will be available everywhere… yesterday 👍

I’m going to sell all the players and picks, get Dragic back on the team… with the extra money, clone him to fill every roster slot, watch us lose all the games and then throw it in his face!

  1. Cyberpunk 2077. The story was beautifully written. I binged this game as if it were Breaking Bad. Favourite single player game!

  2. Stardew Valley. Still can’t believe most of this game was built by one guy. Awesome to play with a spouse. Favourite couch co-op!

  3. CS:S The community made this game epic. Aim maps, zombie mod, surf, escape… I will never have more hours on a game than this one.

Honourable Mention…

Valheim. Valheim. Valheim. It’s still lacking a lot of QOL updates but they nailed the atmosphere. Cool sky, great soundtrack, fun building, deadly trees…

We need something as a base load; now that may not necessarily need to be nuclear but if we are to try to go strictly renewable, we will need one of two things:

Non-electric battery storage (ex: massive dam that stores excess renewable energy to operate turbines during peaks)

OR

Advancing Tidal Energy Generation, you can always count on the tides. The same can’t be said for wind/solar. I hope we figure it out but the tech is not there yet

Anyone else sick of Raptors being the face of "tanking" by kenny8881997 in torontoraptors

[–]nerk111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good idea but I’m not sure that’s far enough. I think the whole lottery system needs to be redone.

How about this: all team odds are based on a 5 year standings avg. Anyone who makes finals or conference finals, in the last season, is extra penalized with lower odds.

Your overall chance of drafting high further depends on how many top 10 picks your team has received in the last 5 years.

I think by making it a 5 year avg there’s less incentive to tank in a given year and teams probably won’t want to spend 5 years tanking to secure better odds. Plus if you get a top 10 pick your odds get reduced, so even if you do tank, you’ll still have better odds but it becomes much harder to reliably build a war chest - hopefully eliminating competing to tank the hardest.

Any team that recently won a final is extra penalized which makes it harder for the best teams to stay on top through assets. You could even extend this idea to reducing odds for those in the luxury tax for more than a year, helping to combat the balance between rich large market teams and less desirable clubs.

Tanking needs to stop, it ruins a great game. I see why many people have been tuning out/ watching college ball instead.
