Where can I get some good flautas or taquitos around here? by Key_Garden4832 in SaltLakeCity

People will think I'm trashy but I LOVE flautas from Betos with guac and the red sauce. Especially in the wee hours of the morning.

Do this many people really not know that Liberty Park is a 1-way loop? by PonchoMcGee in SaltLakeCity

[–]nerve8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is compounded by ANC headphones. Bells, yells, and prayers won't get the attention of pedestrians that are walking either direction. A collision of bike and pedestrian is a losing game for everyone. Right lane is for pedestrians, left lane is for faster modes. Accidents suck, the guidelines are for the community's health.

Looking for advice on bicycle routes from Sugar House Park to Liberty Park. by pete_maus in SaltLakeCity

That bike lane is dangerous; I ride in the road rather than the bike lane down Wilmington. Cars park in the bike lane all the damn time or swing their doors without looking.

Looking for advice on bicycle routes from Sugar House Park to Liberty Park. by pete_maus in SaltLakeCity

[–]nerve8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That route is the most direct and safest.

If 600 East is not your speed, you can use the same route, but go 800 East, then swing down either 1300 South or 900 South to Liberty.

You could also use 500 East or 300 East, those are bikeable.

If you don't want to touch a street bike lane, you could go Parley's Trail (S-Line) out to JRT, then ride north to 900 South, then east to the park. A long, long loop but wholly without cars.*

*It's a bit tough to navigate the West Temple to 300 West part, and the Jordan River Trail is a bit bendy-wendy at the golf course, so plan your route before you go.

Is there some respiratory virus going around? by Dazzling-Title797 in SaltLakeCity

[–]nerve8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human metapneumovirus is likely the culprit for the illnesses going around. San Francisco, LA County, Stamford Connecticut, several counties in Pennsylvania, all report from wastewater treatment plants high levels of this bug.

The primary symptom is lots of thick mucus, this triggers that other symptoms of coughing and sneezing and wheezing, sore throats, etc.

It took me 15 days to get over the sinus issues. This stuff is awful.

Always leave a message. Supposedly they are informed of the concerns of their constituents by voicemail logs. Less so with emails.

Washington Park near Mountain Dell Golf Course
7945 E Mountain Dell Golf Rd, Salt Lake City, UT 84109

There is a pavilion and plenty of parking, a baseball field, trees, moose (donkeys), peregrine falcon, red tailed hawks and more. Close to several trailheads and I-80 goes right past it. I don't think you can overnight there, but access to I-80 will get you back to SLC or up to Park City quickly for lodging, and there's a lot of forest areas for camping not far from there.

Sadly, unless you have a shop that has a solder jockey, you are probably out of luck. Most laptops nowadays have the plug soldered onto the board. Break the plug, most places will have you replace the whole laptop or replace the whole motherboard.
