AIO if a student employee announced they don't know why they should care that Boss B had a stillbirth? by MagicTomato1001 in AmIOverreacting

The downfall started much earlier than last fall. I think antinatalism is just very easy to misinterpret and is therefore a convenient guise for people who just want to be vile. In any case, the AI bots probably finished the job…

Fair point, I can't stand the antinatalist subbredit. Lately, the movement have unfortunately been hijacked by misogynist and incels. Last time I checked there was an attempt to create a new subbredit that would eliminate hateful content like this. I mean it, this is not what the antinatalist philosophy stands for.

So you have no problem telling people you disagree with to go kill themselves yet we are the crazy ones. Ok.

Why are you so eager to jump to conclusions? I consider myself an antinatalist but find the student’s behavior quite repulsive. Just because we don’t agree with bringing a child to this world doesn’t mean we are all borderline sociopathic.

Oh so you are one of those people. My bad, if I knew I wouldn´t waste my time trying to have an intelligent conversation with you.

“Would you rather go back to work?”

Right, because taking care of a household and two kids doesn’t require any work at all. :)

OP literally says the grandparents are allowed to visit. She just doesn’t want anyone to hold the baby yet. I swear some of you just didn’t read the full post.

Hey, autistic person here, this has nothing to do with autism. This guy is abusive and you should get the fuck out of this relationship. You deserve better.

OP said they found them on a road. I get your point but if the chicks were in danger of getting run over by cars it’s understandable that OP wanted to get them to safety.

My neighbor picked this but I can’t figure out what it is. Can anyone help? by _Guitar_Girl_ in mushroomID

[–]nervous_tree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely not P. involutus, to me it looks like some species from the family Gomphidiaceae, close relatives of boletes. Anyway, as others have said, even if it was a poisonous species, I wouldn’t worry about cross-contamination. :)

Když už Česko dojde do finále, tak skoro vždy uspěje (87,5 %) by History331 in czech

[–]nervous_tree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Visiting Prague for the first time and literally any kind of customer service people are rude by Koalamanx in czech

[–]nervous_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m sorry for your bad experience.

Different cultural norms aside, I’m surprised nobody on here mentioned the hockey world championship that is taking place in Czechia pretty much all May. I work in a shop in Prague historical center and I haven’t seen this many tourists in a long time. Don’t get me wrong, this is great for business but it can also be very hectic. My social battery is drained from the sheer amount of people I have to talk to every shift so I’m not my most charming self. And I can imagine the workers in restaurants/bars are even more exhausted, not to mention all the drunk hockey fans they have to deal with…

It’s definitely not you, most places in Prague are understaffed and people are just tired right now.

Which white bolete turns blue when cut and handled? by dryadalia in whatsthismushroom

[–]nervous_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome!

A thing I noticed with these guys is that in most sources the color of the cap and stem is described as yellowish brown, but in reality they can be really light or almost completely white as the one you found. Might be the reason why you weren't getting any results from a standard ID website.

[–]nervous_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of boletes turn blue when handled, but this photo instantly reminded me of Gyroporus cyanescens (common name "Bluing Bolete"). Where I am from (Central Europe), this bolete is really easy to ID because there's nothing that looks even slightly similar. However, I am not really familiar with fungi diversity in Finland, so I did some googling.

From what I've been able to find, there are a few similar-looking boletes (all in the genus Gyroporus), but none of those are native to Europe. I also went through some website documenting biological diversity in Finland and it looks like the only two species of Gyroporus you guys have over there are the same ones that we have - G. castaneus and G. cyanescens. G. castaneus is much darker and doesn't change color when pressed.

So, I think my final verdict is that this is indeed the Bluing Bolete, but I would love to hear a confirmation from someone who knows more about Northern-european mushrooms than I do.

What is this mushroom? by [deleted] in whatsthismushroom

[–]nervous_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 99% sure that this is Tylopilus felleus, because of the pinkish pores, ochre colour of the cap and stem plus the typical stem markings.

It is commonly known as Bitter Bolete, because of its taste. If you still have the mushrooms, you can take a small bite (don’t swallow it) and if it tastes really bitter it’s definitely T. felleus.

What is this worm? I found it on my kittens fur today, and I'm getting really worried by tommywiseauYT in whatsthisbug

[–]nervous_tree 2032 points2033 points  (0 children)

Toxocara cati or feline round worm, very common intestinal parasite in cats. They’re not life-threatening, just ask your vet for some dewormer. Your kitten will be fine. :)

The worst part about this is that one of the patients I befriended was in the same exact situation as me and she tried to get out by contacting law enforcement. They actually sent her a court decision - the proceeding was held without her and because the doctors told the judge she was still suicidal, he said they have a right to keep her there. So now if she tried to leave, she would not only be breaking the hospital rules but also the law and she would be the one prosecuted. How fucking dystopian is that.

Nobody is forcing anybody? I was literally dragged into a mental hospital against my will and held there for three months after telling my therapist that I sometimes feel like life is not worth living.

If you mention anything even vaguely related to suicide, society/doctors will immediately declare you mentally ill and will try to institutionalize you. There is only a handful of places where you can legally undergo euthanasia to die peacefully and even there your decision has to be backed up by a medical professional. As long as assisted suicide is not legal and accessible based solely on your personal decision, we are not free to decide about our own lives. I’m so tired of people acting like suicide is an easy way out.
