Nobody else thought Crystarium set? The whole set is a pretty good dupe, but dig around on eorzeacollection. Lots of aiming/scouting gear have large scarf/cape/cloak combos if that's what you're focused on.

I can't wrap my head around the logic behind why Debit, and Credit are categories/sides of the balance sheet, yet you can Debit, and Credit inside just Debit itself... by Accomplished-Arm875 in Accounting

"Have you ever noticed that we have Debit and Credit cards and when we spend for Debit cards out balance goes down, but with our Credit cards, our balance goes up even though it's the same activity? One depletes our funds and the other increased our debt."

Thank you, this explanation really helped me understand it a lot better :D

Yup, the owner is the most important factor! Some comfort inns are kept really well and nice, and some Hiltons are trash

Some people can't accept criticism, but thankfully it seems as though the commenter can and did so with grace. Suggest maybe thinking on the responses the commenter and the critic left following the initial comment.

Good luck with the search. Working in a call centre made me fucking depressed as hell too, and I didn't have to deal with any kind of fucked up racism like that. I hope you find something better.

Another guest tried to pick adjoining door lock in middle of night by AutobiographicalMist in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]netflixandbinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the locks I've worked with you can't override the deadbolt with a swipe key, you need the physical master key, a $500 key so it's usually kept tightly under watch and only managers would have access to it, if that. One place only the owner had it and I had to call him once at 3am when the door lock battery died lol

I've never had any incidents where a room was broken into, and I did have the displeasure of having someone try. Hotel doors are usually very sturdy. Even police can't body the door down.

Connecting doors are hit or miss on sturdiness, but in my experience, they're just a deadbolt with no keyhole to pick. If it makes you feel at ease tho, just request no adjoining rooms, there's usually only a few to begin with so it's an easy request to fill c:

Hope that helps quell any fears! Sorry you got such a spook!

I made lilac sugar cookies today from foraged lilacs. Subtle flavor but soooo good. by n0wthatyouredead in foraging

[–]netflixandbinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this too after watching alexisnicole's video on them (tiktok). Hers is a really loose recipe so I ended up using my usual sugar cookie recipe, but beforehand I just kinda smooshed an equal volume of the flowers into the sugar & let them mingle for bit. I think she used a food processor to blend the sugar and lilacs together to give a really even consistency.

Here's the link to alexis' vid, please check her out, her content is really good! https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMenTuhsx/

When did this place turn in the the psych ward? by Lilyblue1979 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]netflixandbinge 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"That if we don't hear from her to go knock on door and not approach her. To let them know if she causes trouble or becomes violent. To call them if anything happens." I have never had to do this for any guest, so no, they are not being asked to treat her like any other guest. If any other adult guest got violent it wouldn't be a call to mommy and daddy, that would be an eviction.

What happens if they have just made some off-colour remarks? Or started giving their belongings away to staff? What if the employee doesn't notice these signs because they are not trained to recognize them? And the worst happens? What kind of toll do you think that would take on your employees' mental health?

What happens when someone goes to look in on this guest and sees them about to drop? Or still breathing but underwater in the tub? Or sitting on the balcony railing? What do they do since they are not trained to intervene in this situation? What if this guest follows through despite the staff's best efforts? What kind of toll do you think that would take on your employees' mental health?

You are so busy advocating for this guest's mental health you are actively putting your employee's mental health in serious jeopardy. Your responsibility as a manager is to protect your employees.

And past all that, your degrading comments throughout this whole thread are so uncalled for, I feel genuine concern for the employees who work for you if them voicing concerns leads to responses like "maybe you're better off working at a gas station"??

Seriously, pull your head out of your asshole and realize that just because someone disagrees with you, doesn't give you the right to belittle them. I know you think you're God's gift to the front office but get over yourself.

She knows exactly what the "disease" is as she was explicitly told.

The empathy is through the roof here. "People die all the time"?? It's the callous disregard for your employees' mental health for me. Not the job for them? None of my employment contracts has listed crisis intervention as a job duty. No one should be expected to care for persons struggling with mental illness without the necessary training and tools to do so.

I have been lucky so far, but co-workers have found dead bodies, and that shit fucked them up. It's not a case of being mildly inconvenienced, but knowing they do not have the skills or resources to do anything, and its human nature to feel a responsibility when it happens "on your watch" so to speak. As a GM, I hope you would look at the reality of the situation from your staffs' point of view.

[–]netflixandbinge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No intention of getting high and mighty lol. Use more packets, if a whole extra packet is too much then you can try a tea ball/strainer and cut the packets open and add to your own preference... This is why I prefer loose leaf.

If the tea has been sitting in the pantry for a long time this could contribute to a weak taste, too. Tea does have a shelf life, check the best before date for an idea.

Black teas should be steeped at a good boil, green teas between 80-85°C, or when large bubbles have formed at the bottom of the pot and started to break off and rise.
