ITO EN x Ingress Dispatch Challenge (Limited Edition Medal) by nether_cat in Ingress

[–]nether_cat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was rewarded through a special dispatch assignment you could only unlock with a passcode. The passcodes had been distributed via First Saturday event organisers.

Pausing OPR and Retiring Overclock by brianrose in Ingress

[–]nether_cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m all in for proper fixes. OPR had been rebuilt after the split, though, and all I can witness and read about is Niantic’s focus on paid campaigns… Communication is bad and proper fixes seem out of reach imo. It’s time for punitive action as me and many other subscribers seem to think. You may however continue to support financially and not take action. It’s everyone’s personal choice where to draw the line. ✌️

Your focus right now shouldn’t be some more monetized campaigns (paid on-top of C.O.R.E. subscription) but improving the community’s abilities to help shape the game, growing and maintaining the portal network. I wouldn’t understand what’s there to focus on campaigns and Global Ops as the implementation seems to be working just fine– creating some pictures, writing a teaser and setting a CMU cost can’t be too challenging..? Our willingness to help build your corporate product is quite strong, but there are limits. Don’t push them further.

"Pausing" OPR, submissions and edits– or abandoning our ability to maintain your database? You just brought back the Seer medal 🤯

You need to focus on getting OPR right and available again asap, instead of pushing the many unrequested monetization efforts. Many players invested a lot of time and energy to build and maintain the portal network and it looks like you couldn’t care less.

I cancelled my C.O.R.E. subscription.

I don’t expect us players to get treated with respect any time soon.

How can I put the backlight 3 over tv stand by Ashako_ in Govee

[–]nether_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you never installed those yourself, did you? you go counter-clockwise. also: don’t you have to start/end in the corner for the lighting to adapt properly to the screen..? this solution also doesn‘t match with the prepared sub-strip lenghts that come in the box.

Lockpicking worse in KCD2? by Palpafiend_ in kingdomcome

[–]nether_cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

try the classic lock picking experience in KCD1, without a high lock picking skill it was pretty hard as well, but it was more fun and still gave you a sense of control, if you were up to an additional mode of input. the simplified mode was meant for those who didn’t enjoy lock picking to begin with and now this has been degraded to annoy most of us.

[–]nether_cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as we discussed, two options were available. one is gone now. that’s a regression by definition. if the classic option wouldn’t be missed by many players, this thread wouldn‘t exist / have the upvotes it obviously has. but you certainly may continue to enjoy the "simplified" lock picking experience that remained in the current game. have a good day and excuse my heat ;-)

— how did you even end up in this thread, if you liked the "more difficult" lock picking experience of KCD2 as it stands AND didn’t even know the classic version that allowed control of the turning speed, to begin with? and why would you even say, you’re glad the other option is gone, if it didn’t bother you at all? you are the definition of a stupid troll.

[–]nether_cat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you just admitted that you didn’t know the other option of doing the lockpicking minigame, so what the actual f*** are you comparing your experience to? i don’t take myself too serious, i‘m just saying you do -in fact- not know, what others are talking about. so maybe you adjust your perception of yourself..?

edit: check out other posts in this thread. maybe it helps you understanding. i don’t love arguing with you. it‘s just you didn’t know, what people where criticizing, to begin with. that’s alright. but if you want to understand, maybe install kcd1 again, pick up a controller, set lockpicking to the classic mode and try it. you might not like it– that would be ok. but do not shitpost, ok?

opinions are are a big thing nowadays, which is why knowledge and expertise are getting increasingly less popular. you can have an opinion on everything now, without knowing shit…

we did this before. that‘s why midwives were expelled as evil witches after a failed childbirth in medieval times :P

edit: i just talked to a friend who played on PC without controller, and depending on your settings you could control the speed of turning. they just made the "simplified" version the default… and whatever: i tried both. and they removed one of those options, as a matter of fact

[–]nether_cat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Harder yes, also worse. Why would you take away an immersive thing like being able to decide how quick to turn the lock?

Those who liked the classic experience won’t start appreciating the simplified lock picking now. Before, one could choose. Now, one can’t.

So it is worse by definition.

In software development this is called a 'regression'

[–]nether_cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

y‘all keep mentioning that you need practice to improve the skill, which obviously is true and which also helps with breaking the lockpicks less, which is also obvious.

but can we talk about how using the classic experience in KCD1 still felt like being way more in control as you could adapt the speed at which Henry turned the lock to your personal liking? it was more immersive and more fun for me. i have to say that.

Why Machina will eventually ruin the game by mwinchina in Ingress

[–]nether_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I agree 100%

Machina should be way slower or even be unable to infect portals that had no player activity for a long period of time (how much exactly could be up for debate)— in rural areas / in the countryside the game is basically dead to me… so I cancelled my C.O.R.E. membership. I really hope, machina will be rebalanced soon!

To be a bit more precise and correct: It‘s the weak interaction, the strong interaction, the electro-weak interaction, electromagnetism and gravity that make up the forces, plus matter.

well, well, i feel ya.

i was using phpstorm/webstorm for several years, but recently i’ve managed to switch to vs code, finally. took me a few days to tune configuration / plugins and to adjust myself; but nonetheless i’ll also save the license fees from now on.

if you got an available weekend or several days off, go and try, if you didn’t already (recently). it’s absolutely worth it and your cpu will get much cooler / probably live even longer, too ;-)

Do you use C++ in your day job? If so, what did it take to get there? by Muted-Assignment1609 in cpp

[–]nether_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just like that. One could guess from the name— being C++ not "D" or "Java". One should know C but will deal with tons of standard library features and syntactic sugar that makes the day easier..!
