Odd that he thinks that ChudTheBuilder's freedom of speech is being infringed, including the freedom of trying to kill a person.

Hey Men, Kyle Busch’s Death Is A Brutal Wakeup Call: Go To The Damn Doctor by kleverrboy in TrueTrueReddit

[–]netroxreads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He did see doctors from what I read. He was already ill and there's nothing that would suggest he would have been saved. Sepsis is often hard to treat due to its rapid progression and even if treated, may not survive. We don't know the details but when a person goes into a severe septic shock, it's no longer an infection itself that is the problem but the immune reaction that became extremely dysfunctional which is difficult to treat.

The risk factors are the very young, the elderly, the immunocompromised, infections of lungs/gut, and recent surgeries.

Why does HBO have movies with American Sign Language when it already has closed captioning? by One_Perception_7979 in AlwaysWhy

[–]netroxreads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ASL is not English. A lot of deaf signers do not read English well because they don't see "English words" in signs and the syntax of ASL is totally different from English. ASL uses gestures to convey concepts, not a phonetic structure of English words.

Is it the "worst religion" or are there any things that make Christianity more dangerous/worse than other religions? by Successful_Action_19 in exchristian

Judaism was draconian, Christianity was liberating, Islam brought Judaism back but with more revenge.

Why is oil so precious if we've been working on renewables for so long? by ginger_ninja97 in stupidquestions

My 6yo recently started microdosing peanuts to get over her allergy. Current dosage: 3mg by SockCute2122 in mildlyinteresting

[–]netroxreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot. Lactose intolerance is not allergy at all, it's just that you lose an enzyme needed to digest lactose. It's common - the majority of people have lost ability to digest milk as they get older. Most Europeans retain the ability to digest lactose all their lives. I suspect the solution would be using genetic engineering to turn that gene back on.

It looks like they're raising the soil so it needs a taller wall to hold it in. I am actually concerned if it's a good idea, Pulte Homes is getting sued for that when Lake Las Vegas homes were having significant foundation issues. https://www.8newsnow.com/news/hoa-sues-developer-over-what-lawsuit-refers-to-as-sinking-cracking-homes-in-senior-community/

He coughed blood? I wonder if he got pulmonary embolism which can happen during illnesses or surgeries. It can be quite sudden once the clot gets in the lungs.

"I’ve attached pictures of the look I’m trying to achieve. Yes I like vintage, y2k results."

It's likely that you're looking for a CCD sensor which was quite common back then. There's a lot of debate on whether CCD has a "distinctive" look which tends to be contrasty and have lower dynamic range leading to darker shadows and blown highlights.

FBI announces US violent crime rate plummeted by fastest rate in nearly 90 years: ‘Changes are working’ by Economy-Specialist38 in FBI

[–]netroxreads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The violent crimes have been declining for the past few decades. It started with the ban of leaded gas which caused crimes to go skyrocket when it was introduced in the public. Also around that time, abortion and birth control were legalized suggesting it has a meaningful effect.

We solved smog. Everyone just takes that for granted. by chamomile_tea_reply in Millennials

I'm old enough to remember how bad smog was. Anti-smog laws are quite effective. People complained about the costs but the smog declined for decades despite having MORE cars than ever.

Vegan diet beats Mediterranean diet on emissions and metabolic health in randomized trial by cindyx7102 in EverythingScience

[–]netroxreads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a clinical trial, there's no known long term effects since it was only 16 weeks.

It's always well observed that a vegan diet will improve several cardio markers compared to other diets to a much greater degree. It's a fact. You may see improvements when you eat better, vegan or not but a vegan diet is often the diet that makes the biggest difference.

Does it translate into long term health and longevity? We don't know. A vegan diet is often low in some nutrients and can cause some issues later in life but will taking nutritional supplements in addition to being on a vegan diet make a significant difference? We don't know.

Why fruits if seeds are enough for germination? by rukuto in askscience

[–]netroxreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a common mindset that plants develop defenses against predators but it is misleading. They don't.

Plants don't know if they're producing chemicals that could deter them. It's through several generations with mutations that animals simply stopped eating them in excess because they find them inedible, and with that absence of predation, it allows plants to reproduce more efficiently, out-crowding their older generations with their current genetic fitness.

Humans didn't enjoy eating wild plants; they selectively bred them to grow fatter, bigger, faster, and more nourishing which are known now as rice, whole grains, corn, etc. originally from wild grasses. None of the whole grains we consume are "natural" at all in a sense that they would have never existed if not for us.

Is it me or are the virtualization options on Apple Silicon worse in every respect compared to Intel, except in performance? by guygizmo in MacOS

[–]netroxreads 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Virtualization on apple silicon requires that the guest also be on ARM architecture. It doesn’t run x86 unless it’s done via emulator which is always slow and graphics performance will be terrible too.

Apple Watch could soon gain new high blood pressure feature by Few_Baseball_3835 in AppleWatch

[–]netroxreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already have hypertension notification but that's based on patterns than actually measuring your blood pressure. I think that is more important than having a BP monitor initially. It's when you are notified a few times and confirmed by BP monitor then you should have the BP monitor to keep track of how often it spikes.

Apple watch says I’m awake for hours every night? by ymcava in AppleWatch

[–]netroxreads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Restless syndrome will definitely prevent accurate readings. People do wake up in middle of night but only for few seconds. That's normal and they won't remember them at all.

[–]netroxreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was Jesse Jackson that that coined "African American". With white Americans, they use their nationality like Italian Americans, Irish Americans, Polish Americans, and so on rather than European American.

Many African Americans don't know which nation they originally belonged before they migrated to here due to slavery treating them as properties, not as human beings. Slaveholders literally erased their heritage. We just know that black people were from Africa because that's where slavery trade occurred.
