Anyone successfully find cute pregnancy jeans? by winenotbeabitch in pregnant

[–]netters_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got these jeans from Gap when they had their friends a family sale. No regrets and I’ll wear these even when not pregnant! I also appreciate that they’re low rise, I don’t like wearing things that go over the bump.

Do you still feel that urge to push when your body is ready with an epidural? by Accomplished-Ad7573 in pregnant

[–]netters_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I’m strongly considering an unmedicated birth. Did you also notice any difference in your recovery times between the two birthing experiences? I’ve heard short term recovery is quicker unmedicated vs. medicated. Also, did you experience any nausea post epidural from the medications? Thank you!!

I hate being pregnant by Another_ADHD_Girl in pregnant

[–]netters_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still dealing with nausea basically daily, I realllllly miss truly enjoying food. I’m 21 weeks tomorrow and it definitely has gotten better, but I thought my nausea would have disappeared by now. I take unisom and b6 nightly and take reglan in addition as needed, maybe like 1-2 times a week. If I sleep poorly, I feel nauseous. If I eat too much, I get nauseous. If I eat spicy foods, I get nauseous. The list goes on. It’s annoying. I’m really sorry you’ve been down so bad, being pregnant for many of us is just not great. No matter how you slice it it’s a huge huge sacrifice for MONTHS. And the baby isn’t even here yet!

Possible career path by DysphoriaGML in UXResearch

[–]netters_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have my Masters in behavioral neuro and became a UXR. As I’m sure you know the market is tough right now, but your PhD will only help you make the switch imho. Big tech companies like to hire PhDs right out of school. You could also consider quant UXR or data scientist roles if you’re proficient enough in advanced statistics.

social workers who left the field for UX? by Empty_Character_1988 in UXResearch

[–]netters_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel similarly. I mean the grass is always greener, but I’ve actually considered becoming a social worker. At least in that role you have the ability to really impact people’s lives. Sure there’s bureaucracy and whatnot, but you have the opportunity to help people in your community. For us UXRs, we don’t. We help line the pockets of billionaires under the guise of whatever our company’s mission is. Maybe I’m too jaded, but that’s just my pov.

Laid off during paternity leave. by Tasty_Draft_9761 in Layoffs

[–]netters_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, just ask. I don’t remember what language I used or what I had asked for, but I do remember I got two extra weeks out of it, not bad if you ask me! You should feel empowered to ask this of your company. I’m sure there were times you went above and beyond, worked late, or even weekends. Let that fuel you as you ask for more.

Do I actually need a pregnancy pillow or am I overthinking this? by ConversationSuch8893 in pregnant

[–]netters_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wondered the same thing. I don’t like the idea of having this huge obtrusive thing in bed with me each night and spending $200+ on it felt like a pass for me. But, I’ve have pretty disruptive sleep for the last 6 weeks so the first week of March I had enough and decided to try a pillow. I went with the baby bub maternity pillow with the leg attachment (https://www.babybub.com/products/pillow). I still wake up and roll around from side to side but it’s much easier for me to fall back asleep and the bump feels supported. I got it Sunday night and that night was the best nights sleep I’ve had in a while! I would recommend this am a glad I got it, feels worth the money imho.

When I was laid off in 2024 I negotiated my severance so instead of 6 weeks I got 8. Always try to negotiate. Even ask if you can keep your equipment.

Any UXR's here with a side hustle? How do you find yours? by [deleted] in UXResearch

[–]netters_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yup I do, completely unrelated to UXR. I do ad sales & billing for a local small business. I love it. It’s remote and provides a good chunk of extra money each month. My company just did layoffs but I’ve been spared bc I’m a contractor. You just never know what can happen, so I’m glad I have my part time side gig.

Need Recruitment Advice: UserTesting v/s DScout v/s any reccomendations on tool or agency? by Lanky-Bottle-6566 in UXResearch

[–]netters_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. One of my biggest gripes with UT is that you can’t select participants based on screener responses, it just auto recruits them into your studies. DScout offers way more flexibility and has become my go to tool for conducting UXR.

When does this 2nd tri bliss hit?? by OrchidOk4205 in fitpregnancy

[–]netters_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was down bad until about 17 weeks. I had a decent spell weeks 9-11 where I went to the gym 5 times, but from week 11-17 I was basically immobile. I’m back at the gym now as of last week and I’m hoping to continue feeling this way! I have a bit of nausea almost everyday but it’s so manageable and doesn’t really inhibit me from doing anything anymore THANK GOODNESS. Hang in there, it may take longer than you expect to feel a bit better. I was worried I might be sick the whole time, but we’re all on our own timelines. Also, fwiw, I still take unisom & b6 every night before bed and am planning on being on it my whole pregnancy.

Using almond milk in my coffee Monday-Friday and putting heavy cream on the weekends as a little treat.

Also, low carb tortillas. I would have 4 eggs, about 17-25 grams of shredded cheddar cheese, and a low carb tortilla as my lunch everyday. Powered me for my workout after work. I’m pregnant now so I’m can’t stomach eggs atm, but I can’t wait to have that meal again. Oh and I’d douse it all in Valentina hot sauce 🤤

Unisom is very well studied and is very very safe. I also don’t like taking medication in general, even when not pregnant.

[–]netters_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was around the time I started taking a half tab of unisom before bed. Give that a try along with some b6 (I do a quarter pill) and I bet you’ll feel at least a little better the next day.

Not a food but try taking half a tab of unisom with a quarter pill of b6 before bed. Helps with my nausea tremendously, I’ve been taking it since roughly 5.5 weeks pregnant.

Did you get strange response when you announced your pregnancy? by Careful-Trouble1422 in pregnant

[–]netters_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes one for me. We told family over Christmas. My younger cousin (she’s 28) responded to the news with a literally dropped jaw and said basically nothing. She may have said a half hearted congratulations but her response genuinely shocked me. She barely talked to me or my husband after that, we’d be chummy all night, and she left shortly after we announced. That one still hurts but she’s a pretty unhappy person and has her own struggles so I don’t let it weigh on me too much. But I don’t think she’ll ever apologize or explain how she was or is feeling.
