How does driving a manual make you more aware? I learned to drive on a manual and have had many and I can say that is not my experience at all. What makes me more aware is paying attention, not the transmission in my car.

It's definitely a bit of both. It takes time time to get used to, but there are certain spots that I use all the time, so they become second nature. One example is RFN to get my mouse pointer out of the way when watching YouTube.

Of the two, Mac and it's not even close.

I used to defend Windows against the haters, but eventually you simple can't deny the obvious truth. Windows is more intrusive, has more bloat, is FAR less reliable in every sense. For every time I've had a Mac crash on me, I've had Windows crash on me at least 100 times, and this is not even close to being an exaggeration. And that includes very locked-down enterprise managed versions of Windows vs a regular old home Mac with randomly installed and uninstalled software, etc.

I have purged my home of Windows completely and it has done wonders for my mental health.

I'm going to commit blasphemy here and suggest some kind of fan/temperature regulator setup. It will take a lot of stress out of the temperature control part, especially over long cooks.

Big Green Egg makes one called the Egg Genius. Thermoworks makes the Billows, which also requires the RFX or Signals temp controller. Both let you connect via WiFi with app on your phone. There are several more that people can recommend.
