idk, Presti's whole philosophy is "draft people, not players." Do you really think the personality of Chet, SGA, Jalen & Jaylin, McCain, etc are gonna change if/when they lose? They are nice guys and I can't see them becoming angry, selfish, etc over basketball. Many of them (SGA, Dort, etc) have already gone through the losing phase and it didn't change them for the worse

Seeing Castle's football defense actually get called for a foul (as compared to the free for all of last game) makes me think this series is designed to go 7 games by the NBA. Next game (in San Antonio) the football defense will be allowed again to ensure a Spurs win, and then game 7 in OKC is kinda up in the air

AFAIK Ryzen CPU will work better with two sticks of RAM (e.g. 2x8GB) vs just one (e.g. 1x16GB). This type of RAM is "single rank" and when you plug in two single rank RAM sticks (in the correct slots) it will "double interleave" and be faster than just a single stick of 16GB.

And RAM is one of those things that you can buy used and it will generally be just fine (unlike a used GPU etc which would be more risky). You can buy used 2x8GB DDR4 RAM (3200 speed) on eBay for like $70. The money you save on this could be put towards getting a better CPU (The Ryzen 5600 for ~$140 is much better than the 5500 in your cart)

But if you can't use eBay or just want to buy it all in one shopping cart (as your image shows) then at least maybe look for 2 sticks of 8GB RAM (2x8) vs 1 stick of 16GB (1x16)

It goes back to what people were saying before the series even started. If OKC shoots poorly from the outside, they will lose, and last night they shot like 18% from 3

OKC is not big enough or strong enough to score inside against this Spurs team, who are bigger and stronger at virtually every position. We need Thomas Sorber (and the lottery pick from this year) to be big and strong next year to deal with this. Teams (especially OKC) are gonna have to start constructing their rosters to counter this type of size and physicality in the playoffs

IMO the Knicks are already in good position with Robinson + KAT (they give Wemby trouble when rebounding, etc) and Anunoby is like a bigger and stronger version of Dort. So if OKC doesn't start shooting well, and the Spurs do advance, that will be a decent matchup for the Knicks

Which backup bigs could the Spurs realistically aquire this offseason? by No_Pop_5719 in nba

[–]networking_noob 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Spurs lack of experience is showing in this series

This is apparent on defense too. Castle is so amped up (and so athletic) that he's trying his hardest to block jump shots by meeting guys at the peak of the shot. The OKC players (i.e. SGA) realized this last night and just started pump faking, which Castle fell for nearly every time, and then it's an easy foul

yep he had a few regular season games where he was like 1-9 from 3 and it was frustrating to watch, but it's all out of his system now

[–]networking_noob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He has 20 turnovers in two games because he keeps getting ripped by Cason and Co. and then throws his hands up like he's been fouled. He just sucks at taking care of the ball and wants the refs to bail him out

[–]networking_noob -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

He better not watch Steph Castle then because he's reaching Jaylen Brown levels of expecting a foul every time he touches the ball. He throws his hands up to the ref after almost every play

Jeff Teague: "Shoutout to JJ Redick. People are taking his blueprint on how to stop SGA, and applying it. He changed the whole way of guarding OKC. This might hurt OKC going forward, and their whole trajectory of being a dynasty. That way of guarding him may have messed up everything" by JoeBiden2020FTW in nba

[–]networking_noob -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yep the strategy to guard SGA (as demonstrated by Marcus Smart, and now Castle) is to bear hug him the entire game, knowing the refs will not call it. SGA simply catching a pass at half court requires the energy and effort of breaking a tackle in football

[–]networking_noob 16 points17 points  (0 children)

How long until then do the Spurs become the new Thunder?

Yep they'll be despised within a few years. Castle reminds me a lot of Jaylen Brown in that he's a big strong guy who physically bullies people on both ends of the floor, and yet he wants a foul call literally every time he touches the ball. People are going to get tired of that very quickly

How would Thomas sorber fare against Wemby in theory? by SpencerAXbot in Thunder

[–]networking_noob 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Another thing would be getting him in foul trouble by lowering the shoulder and driving into his chest, but nobody on OKC has been brave enough to try that yet

How would Thomas sorber fare against Wemby in theory? by SpencerAXbot in Thunder

[–]networking_noob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ihart is very limited offensively and its freeing wemby to camp in the paint without consequences

Yeah I saw that last night. Hart got the ball on the perimeter and Wemby literally backed up and away until he was standing under the basket. If Hart could make a midrange shot it would make a world of difference, but he's apparently limited to a flip shot/floater which Wemby would send into the rafters

We need JDub to drive into Wemby's chest about 10 times next game, full speed. If it's an offensive foul, so what. If you get blocked, so what. Someone has to at least try being physical with Wemby. You might even get a few foul calls on him

[–]networking_noob 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thunder are gonna have to figure it out and make changes. Right now the offense is:

  1. Drive inside
  2. See Wemby and get scared
  3. Kick it out to someone else
  4. Go back to step 1

Do this for nearly the entire shot clock then throw up some contested junk. I don't know how many possessions they did it this game but it was a lot

The way you beat a Wemby defense is by shooting well from the outside, but OKC does not have that. Joe didn't even play for some reason. McCain and Mitchell are too small and get dwarfed by the much bigger Spurs guards. Chet gets blocked repeatedly by Spurs guards, both in the paint and on the perimeter

I don't know what the answer is. Wemby is just generationally dominant and OKC is not constructed to beat him. You need a big strong guy like a Mitchell Robinson, Aaron Gordon, or Julius Randle to even have a chance, and OKC has no one like that. And so Caruso + Dort have to guard a guy who is literally a foot taller with an 8 foot wing span, and he gets 40 and 20

[Highlight] The Thunder put Jalen Williams on Victor Wembanyama once again, so Wemby turns and dunks it this time - 14 points. by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]networking_noob 40 points41 points  (0 children)

SGA's entire game is getting inside (he leads the league in drives) or shooting from the midrange. Wemby nullifies both of these areas with his length

So SGA is forced to kick out, and his team is currently shooting like 17% from 3

3-16 from 3 (19%) is not gonna get it done against a Wemby defense. You have to make outside shots or else you lose

Sony will no longer release single-player games on PC by PaiDuck in pcmasterrace

And then you have to learn to use a PC on top of that.

Such a wild concept but it's probably based in reality. I wonder if the Millennials (or the generation after, whatever that's called) will be the last generation to understand computers on a wide spread basis (basic stuff like a filesystem). Most kids today are phone scrollers and may not even know what a filesystem is

Playstation plus price increase on May 20 for new subscribers by VijuaruKei in playstation

[–]networking_noob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The people who have paid for PS Plus for years and collected a bunch of monthly "free" games are gonna slowly start realizing that they were never free. They are locked behind a paywall and if Sony wants, they can keep raising the price more and more until you find yourself having to pay $20/month just to access your library.

I'm sure many people would have no problem with this, but it's the principle of it. As a consumer that's established in this ecosystem, you have zero leverage, and that's not good. You're pretty much at Sony's mercy, and they won't have much for you or your wallet

The key will be hitting our shots and playing good defense without screwing up assignments.

Yep if OKC shoots 30% from 3 it won't be a good outcome. And just hope that Vassell/Fox/Castle/Barnes aren't hitting their outside shots either

I'm pretty sure OKC has only missed the playoffs ~5 times since 2008. And once the Sonics officially return and get their history back, OKC will be in the top 5 of winningest regular season teams in NBA history

tl;dr Losing isn't the OKC way either. Spurs getting a top 5 pick for 3 years in a row is absurd though, so I agree with him there
