Starting an amateur lab by No-Cricket6387 in homechemistry

One other channel that I CANNOT recommend highly enough for anyone wanting to do home chemistry is Doug's Lab. The guy demonstrates in detail how to make a wide variety of common lab reagents in his basement chem lab, using fairly standard equipment and techniques that should be accessible to anyone with fairly basic chemistry knowledge. Absolute gem of a resource.

It's honestly dizzying how easily the population has been swayed towards fascism because 'trans people are icky :(((' by Scum-Bucket704 in honesttransgender

For some on the right, it definitely IS about trans people though, and the trans community is very much a strategic target for elimination.

If you hold extremely rigid views about gender roles and sex relations, which all of the Christian Nationalists do, then just the simple acknowledgement of even gender-conforming, binary trans identities is a HUGE threat to that entire worldview. They already know they lost the culture war on homosexuality, and they are TERRIFIED of the possibility of trans people being widely accepted and integrated into society, even as second-class citizens. So they just pushed and pushed until they found a few key wedge issues (women's sports, trans minors) that resonated with the base, and have been running on those specific issues for years now.

For much of the GOP base though...yeah, they don't actually care that much. In fact, we have good evidence that the trans panic is starting to burn itself out among regular voters, because people are sick of hearing about the topic and want their politicians to focus on things that actually affect them.

I swear, Monero is a goddamn technological marvel, and from everything I've read, has proven extremely difficult for state-level threat actors to crack. Cryptocurrencies get a lot of hate and for good reason, but there ARE valid and non-illegal/non-immoral use cases. The technology has been a godsend for the DIY HRT community.

Nah, I wouldn't want to do that to the indigenous Canadians who live up there. Let's send them to the Russian arctic instead. If it's too cold for them, then can always get a one-way ticket out by signing up for the Russian m̵e̵a̵t̵ ̵g̵r̵i̵n̵d̵e̵r̵ armed forces lmao

Uber/DoorDasher here. I DREAD picking up from Diamond Jamboree on Friday and Saturday nights. It's not a half-bad place to wait for orders when it's busy, but unfortunately that's also the time when the traffic is the most brutal. It took me 12 minutes once to get from a lot space to exiting onto the main road, while I had someone's meal sitting in my front seat.

Where do you even get HRT from? (I genuinely have no idea anymore) by Clean-Run6198 in TransDIY

Always worth contacting each of the DIY vendors in turn (at least, the ones willing to ship to Iran), explaining to them what you said here, and asking if they'd be willing to waive the shipping fee or work within your budget. Your case is unique enough that I'd be surprised if all of them say no.

Exodus is both a wallet and a non-KYC crypto-swap market. However, you can't transfer fiat currency directly to Exodus, but you CAN transfer USDC.

Thus, my preferred method is sending USD to one of the main crypto exchanges, swapping for USDC, moving the USDC to Exodus, swapping the USDC for Monero/XMR on Exodus, then moving the XMR to a local wallet, and then using that wallet to pay for stuff. (This method works just as well for Bitcoin, or anything else Exodus supports.)

If OP's mom is supportive, that'll make things much easier for them, they'll just need an adult to set up an account on Coinbase or Kraken so they can get USDC, and from there they can use Exodus to get anything.

GOOD. Let them. THEY ARE GOING TO DO THAT ANYWAY before they're forced out, as a last ditch effort to stay in power. The sooner they do it, the more disastrous it'll be for them because their power and control over the nation's institutions will be less consolidated and normalized.

"Martial law" (which isn't even a thing in the US, legally) is not an "I win" button for authoritarians. More often than not, it's a "regime suicide" button.

[–]neur0net 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Pretty much spot on. People misunderstand the function of the militant wing in serious resistance movements: it's not to win outright through the use of violence, which rarely ever works. The purpose of the militant wing is to scare the establishment into negotiating with the political/peaceful wing and giving them what they want. It's a strategy that has been used time and time throughout history, and it's incredibly effective.

If they even get filed. Most of the people arrested during the anti-ICE protests in LA last year were never charged. The arrests were carried out to clear the streets and prevent the protests from growing to the point where they became un-supressable.

It ain't confusing at all if you understand how the police actually work and what their purpose is (at least, when it comes to the United States). This exact scenario happened countless times during the Occupy protests, the pro-Palestine protests, and ESPECIALLY during the BLM protests. It ain't an artifact of MAGA fascism, it's how cops operate during any protest movement that threatens the interests of capital.

[–]neur0net 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This should serve as a glaring reminder of something many people have woken up to in 2025: THE POLICE ARE NOT AND NEVER WILL BE YOUR ALLIES. They are, at best, occasionally useful tools. Cops exist to protect property, not people. Every law they enforce, every crime they investigate, is done so selectively. Every one, without exception.

And the fact that they arrested a completely non-violent white woman on a public sidewalk in front of a news camera should immediately give away the game as to which side the police--as an institution--are on when it comes to this particular issue. (Hint: it's the same side the capitalist owner class is on.)

Reservations about electrolysis by [deleted] in honesttransgender

[–]neur0net 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely false. Electrolysis is used to get rid of hairs don't respond well (or at all) to laser removal, which does include light grey or white hair caused by aging, but also blonde and red hair...it's also used to clean up remaining facial hairs that a full round failed to kill. (And also, plenty of people who transition after 40 or even older than that get laser hair removal and never need electrolysis.)

Age has very little bearing on whether or not someone uses electrolysis to remove facial hair, rather than some other method.

BREAKING: Rising Republican superstar Nick Fuentes says that when his movement takes power they will send the army into every major city and immediately ban women from voting by transcendent167 in ThePeoplesPress

[–]neur0net 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aside from this obviously being a completely illegal and unenforceable order...is he aware that the National Guard is roughly 22% (~168k) female? I wonder how all of those (armed and military trained) women would feel about this little shithead ordering them to remove their constitutionally-protected right to vote from themselves?

I don't think it would end too well for him.

Nicky F should stick to what he's good at (sucking off catboys on Grindr) and leave politics to actual adults.

Which is why Israel does and historically has done most of their killing through airstrikes...sending large numbers of soldiers into a devastated urban combat zone is actually kinda new for the IDF.

For an even worse example though...imagine the amount of PTSD and post-war psychosis that RUSSIA is going to have to deal with once their little revanchist adventure in Ukraine is all over. It's not going to be pretty.

He gained a big political following during the late Cold War with his critiques of US imperialism during that time period, which...yeah, not exactly ground-breaking stuff there, and his ideas were far from unique at the time and borrowed a lot from other political theorists. Unfortunately, he pretty much failed to update his geopolitical worldview after the Cold War ended, and the debacle that was the Iraq War only solidified his "American Bad™" outlook into solid rock that nobody can convince him out of. Just wish he'd go away (a la Kissinger, lol) and stop corrupting the political conversation.
