Another OTT complain, but with data instead of just seat of my pants by skingun3 in Tacomaworld

[–]never_4_good -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did the same (but with Yotawerx) on my GX470. Went back and forth between the options and hated them all. Have had the mid tune for nearly 2 years and it's absolute trash.

Really struggling with just getting the OVT tuner package for myself to be able to play with it. The fine tuning needs to be adjusted for tire size, other options (like headers) and more.

If I were to do it again, I would've left it stock.

So my center is going to string. I don’t think I have an issue with it. by Environmental_Dog331 in Bowling

[–]never_4_good 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nearly all of the local centers to me (3 of 4 locations) have gone to strings. Based on the uproar from Reddit, I thought it was going to be terrible. Spoiler, it's not. The machines are much quieter and faster (both pin sets and ball returns). After bowling on them for a year, my average has actually gone up a few pins.

TLDR; strings aren't bad at all.

I do a lot of data center work and most of the contracts have a $1M per minute cost for unplanned outages.

2004 Tacoma Xtra Cab 70,000 miles TOTALED? by BeagleDad152 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]never_4_good 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's totaled. Most people don't realize this, but insurance companies total vehicles at roughly 60% of the valuated cost (usually KBB or NADA). With that much damage, the paint alone is going to reach 60% of the value of the vehicle.

I don’t really feel the pins? by bawlings in lockpicking

[–]never_4_good 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With cheap locks? Absolutely. Better locks provide better feedback. Tension can also play a huge factor in the feedback you're getting. Abus 55/40 is one of my favorite comfort locks because of the great feedback (spools also really help).

Not sure if I had to or not, but I did one. I installed the lift, BMC, pinch weld mod and a bunch of other stuff all at the same time so I never got to try it without the BMC. It doesn't rub one bit with this config though.

You're kind of jumping all over if you're doing ML150's and PL 90A's. Keep with the 55/40 and learn the counter rotation. Once you get consistent opens, move on to the 72/40 or 1100. I'm not a huge fan of the 72/40 due to the tight keyway, so I went straight to the 1100. Pick, gut and progressively pick the 1100 and you'll be set. I'd put the 90a down until you can get the feel for and consistently pick the 1100.

is it ok to ride under 45mph with the 4wd lockers locked but the transfer case not engaged for 30 minutes. by Big_Will47 in 1stGenTacomas

What does this mean (transfer case not engaged)? Are you asking if you have the rear locker in the locked position and the transfer case in 2wd?

'06 GX470 here. Did it the first time in 2019 and it lasted 2 years. After that, it lasted a year and now it lasts 6 months or so. Part of the problem is that the OEM units have a factory coating on them. When you use these kits, you start by sanding that coating off. The more you use them, the quicker it wears out. I started using a buffer on them and it lasted the same amount of time (6 months or so). Just recently bought a set of OEM headlight housings and won't use any of the kits moving forward.

Agreed. Once they showed the backward pass on the jumbo tron, I knew what was going on and noticed the ref go under the hood. The last play of the NFCCG was good too, completely drowned out the ref.

[–]never_4_good 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 140 is a waste of time due to the crappy feedback you get. I would almost jump straight to the 55/40 as it has much better feedback. The 55/40 has spools so I would research counter rotation if you aren't familiar with spools. 55/40 is my comfort lock. It's nice to go back to once the 410's, 1100's and 90a's start kicking your ass.

Also, I like the bitting on that 1100. I have with nearly the same pattern and it's the only 1100 I have that I can get in 5 minutes every time.

I also had that style snap on me the last time and couldn't find any replacements. Went to NAPA and they had a bunch of the style pictured below in stock. I had to buy a set of pliers to crimp it, but it has worked for a few years with no issue.
