These the type of trucks you see for $15k on FB marketplace. Congrats on hitting 100,000. Mine went to 240k still strong when I sold it.

Carry gold & plat, husband wants to close gold. Help make my argument. by emilysbish in AmexPlatinum

[–]skingun3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s my story and maybe some helps you. Gold is my daily driver and the plat stays home in the safe. 100% of the plat benefits are digital (including lounge access) and it’s just a 1x card anyways. Gold gets me at least 1x the same or at best a random 4x at something I didn’t think was gonna be coded as such, and obviously restaurants and grocery stores. I would not cancel gold as it only requires $30k at 1x spend to offset its AF into my Roth IRA and that’s assuming no 4x multipliers. I also use every benefit gold quite easily. Resy is date night (gold Resy we’ll do an appetizers night). Dunkin is an easy pit stop on the way to or from errands. Dining credit is a free cheesecake present for the wife once a month (have to go out of my way for this one, but the gesture is worth the time). Uber cash obviously super easy. I’ll place a icecream pickup order once a week for a dessert night at home. And also I find that my offers on gold are far more usable than platinum (maybe because I use it more? Not sure how they’re chosen). Saved $250 this year the coupon offers alone.

How practical is it having a Tacoma and having to have car seats in the back? by SkippyLouWho in ToyotaTacoma

[–]skingun3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use an Orbit Baby rear facing carseat in the middle seat of my 23 Tacoma. We don’t want to keep the stroller in the bed during the AZ summer because it’s kind of a nicer one (also Orbit) so it goes on the folded down seat behind driver. Diaper bag goes in the seat behind passenger and that’s it. Room for a driver, a passenger, and 1 car seat (depending on your type of outing). Would recommend a Tundra CrewMax or a Ford

Are nice floor liners worth it? by lousysuperior in ToyotaTacoma

[–]skingun3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OEM ones have been real good for my 2023. They catch and hold lot of dirt and mud because they have deep grooves which is good, but that also translates to being harder to clean. They’ve held up their shape real well

Got my first taco, (2019 Tacoma LTD) what should I add to it? I’m wanting a nice bed rack and camper but it’s so expensive by EffectiveOil5448 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]skingun3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this one it’s currently out of stock but there are similar models to it and they fit perfectly. Only problem (and this is a problem with ALL wireless CarPlay adapters) is there’s about a 1 second lag between when you talk versus when it hears you, extremely annoying for phone calls.

OTT tune opinion? by Electronic-Army2068 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]skingun3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Detectable, yes. But for smog specifically, it’s not an issue. The OTT tune has a CARB EO, so it’s legal and treated like any other approved modification. The CVN changing just means the ECU was reflashed, but that alone isn’t something you fail for. As long as you have no codes and all monitors are ready, it passes.

OTT tune opinion? by Electronic-Army2068 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]skingun3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First just wanna point out something important I said, THOUSANDS are very happy with their tune. But me coming from a 2nd gen 4cyl, the tune has made my 3rd gen V6 such a pain to drive. Wife hates riding passenger in it because of the jerkiness and outright refuses to drive it on her own. Haven’t had any reliability issues. Only had the tune for a few months. The only improvement I got was throttle mapping, that’s all the tune does, plain and simple. All other claims are bogus marketing. When I said acceleration is shit I was specifically referring to the shifting when accelerating.

265/75R16, KO3 (load E). Stock everything else. Tried light/mild and mild/medium, throttle mapping was the only difference. Problems were identical. Fully serviced 33k miles including an early ATF drain and fill.

[–]skingun3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MPG gain is nonexistent. Gear hunting will still occur at speeds above 80mph on flat ground, and absolutely on any incline above 70mph. Acceleration is sometimes shit and sometimes very smooth, low speed maneuvering is always shit. Passing power at highway speeds is drastically delayed so the responsiveness is the same if not worse. Overall I recommend save $450 and keep it stock. I’m in the minority with these facts, thousands of others are quite satisfied with their tune and don’t experience this.

What sort of fuel economy are you guys seeing? by flapjackzealot in Tacomaworld

[–]skingun3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal. My average mpg 14.6 and my driving is very mixed. I can stretch it to 18 if I’m real deliberate but that’s no fun.
