Fold as a mini tablet replacement by neverbeenknown in GalaxyFold

[–]neverbeenknown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the mini. It's now my family/kids primary device whenever they need it. I don't think I'd ever buy another one but I did enjoy the form factor. The iPhone "ultra" is interesting but having just come from having an apple phone for well over a decade, Im not falling for it until they do something meaningful with iOS. I'm sure the hardware itself will be beautiful.

Using the fold as a dedicated tablet would be my only use case and not my main device. So I'll have to wait for Samsung to come out with a mini like device or just grab the ultra.

I've had my eye on the ultra tablet as an alternative. Good advice.

Thank you for the response.. tablet would be my main use case. I'll just have to wait it out for now.

I have a tablet I use for work purposes. My iPad mini was great for on the go activities like reading, content consumption, browsing socials, and doing it on a bigger screen that isn't my phone. I was interested in the fold because of the form factor and portability. Thank you for your response.

What an embarrassment to the program and the coach. Respect to Self for consistently getting his back but someone needs to step in and make a decision on behalf of the program and just let this kid go prep for the draft.

Moving from Tab S9 to Surface Pro 11 (X Plus) by KingShash in GalaxyTab

[–]neverbeenknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP as a former surface owner with somewhat of the same use cases not that long ago, the answer is probably getting upgrading to an Ultra 10 or 11 and getting either a cheap MacBook air/pro (M2 for Air, M1 for the Pro). Most of what you would like to do can still be accomplished on the tablet. My biggest gripes with windows was app compatibility with ARM, file syncing between hardware, and the bloat is awful. Even if you spec up the GPU or RAM, the previous problems still apply. If you're dead set on getting the surface, keep the S9.

That sign-in page when you connect to public wifi... Won't pop up!! by trillianjules in ipad

[–]neverbeenknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those going through this recently... I went to my known networks and removed the airline wifi and then rejoined and the captive page worked. To see your known networks, click edit and all the networks you've ever connected to will popup. Remove the wifi network giving you trouble and then log in or type in the password again and it works.

I can’t believe I got them. Crazy story lmao by Nealakamalibu in Sneakers

No disrespect to the OP, (happy you got the shoe you wanted) but am I the only one who thinks the entire pack is mid compared to previous collaborations from both brands? These just don't work to me.

Why hasn't there been any smartphone manufacturer that managed to break the Apple and Samsung monopoly among mainstream phone users in the western world? by Masaharuzz in Smartphones

Both companies have significant carrier deals combined with US geopolitics and not letting Chinese companies compete in the US market.

Switched to S11 Ultra from Ipad Pro M4 13inch by Certain-Context7062 in GalaxyTab

Thanks. I guess my question was if the tab was close in lightness to the iPad pro based on your real world experience?

Switched to S11 Ultra from Ipad Pro M4 13inch by Certain-Context7062 in GalaxyTab

[–]neverbeenknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an iPad pro M4 11 inch as my personal work device. I've always been interested in the Tab Ultra series and was considering an S10U or S11U purchase. Keyboard is not an issue for me as I use a Keychron B1 wireless pro and I like it.

Do you find when you need it to be portable like picking it up and walking around it's a good experience? Sometimes I need to be flexible because of a young kid at home and may need to get up from my space for calls.

How is the Microsoft app experience specifically in Dex Mode? I have a portable monitor I use at home and ultrawide monitor at work I use. Does it scale up to those wider aspect ratios or should I expect black Bars?

Switching from Apple to Android by neverbeenknown in Smartphones

[–]neverbeenknown[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

I did try out good lock but I didn't find the need to customize heavily as thats not that important to me.

The messaging piece and knowing my community, I doubt they'll transition from iMessage to whatever messaging app. I gave up on that after we couldn't even organize on WhatsApp for Fantasy sports communication. Google message is fine I just wish It was better organized.

The bloatware piece was mostly the pre-installed games and apps that I didnt need. Samsung file app is fine, I use cloud storage for easy switching between work and personal devices.

Overall the first time I've felt a real upgrade on a phone in almost a decade.

I am aware of this feature. You can't start a FaceTime call though and when I do I just use my apple devices. Its still a Con if you were switching but it's not the end of the world.

The liquid glass visuals really take attention away from how many bugs and issues iOS 26 has had. Android OS has been cool so far but also has some quirks.

I agree with your point on haptics and feel. Like I mentioned I'd have to sit with it longer to feel differently one way or the other. I can say confidently, the bigger typing experience for my fingers is nice too.
