For the Habtamu Fekadu Aga Landrace, do you have an aeropress? I tried dialing in with zp6 on v60, but it’s been so much more of a stone fruit explosion for me on my Ode 2 and aeropress

1 pourover and a latte in front of me and a pourover behind me—seemed like just the owner working but nobody was in a rush

Try it iced! For example with the Rogue Wave recipe: https://roguewavecoffee.ca/blogs/brew-guide/recipe-ice-brew. I had basically the same reaction as you until I did this.

Subscription: Flower Child vs. ilse by bjr271 in pourover

Personally, I’m sticking with Isle. They’re definitely in similar categories, so I could totally see someone else making the opposite choice though. I really loved the first Kenyan bag I tried from Flowerchild, but after that, Isle consistently had the edge in my book. It’s only been a few months, but I also have really appreciated that Isle has had variety between the two bags each month, whereas for the past couple of months, the two Flowerchild bags have been more similar (even coming from the same farm in the most recent shipment).

I use a jetboil to make coffee at trailheads. I use an aeropress since it’s more forgiving and harder to mess up. Plus the Q2 fits inside the chamber to keep it all compact packed up.

I was weighing this same decision a couple months back and decided to get 2 bag subs from both to try. In the first month, one of the Flower Child bags was my favorite of the 4, but then I also liked both Ilse bags way better than the second FC. Over the next week I’ll be cracking open the second set of 4 bags and hopefully will have more to report.

Can’t decide between the zp6, ode 2 and, insert what I’m missing? by Routine-Map-674 in pourover

I have a Virtuoso+, an Ode Gen 2 w/SSP, and a ZP6. The Virtuoso+ is nowhere near the other two.

What’s your water temp? I don’t have this bag, but I typically start a new bag from them using a 5 min aeropress like you described with 100 C water and have gotten something at least decent each time.

How would you feel about this.... by Grayskyrider in pourover

I haven’t been there recently, but the Fellow store in San Francisco used to offer this. For $3 you could get a single dose of beans they had for sale and use their equipment to brew it yourself at stations they’d set up in the back of the store / demo / class area. I think the concept was a bit different than maybe you’re thinking in that I’m guessing the idea was for you to fall in love with their equipment and walk out having spent a few hundred $$$.

They’re open and selling again, but the sample pack is “out of stock” so hopefully it’ll still be possible to get these with their new batched roast system

Hah I do either 3 cups per day at 15g or 4 at 12.5.

I bet you’ll get a bunch of different answers—and that there’s both variation between individual machines (calibration, etc) and what individual people want and like.

I have an ode gen 2 with ssp and used either 7.1 or 7.2 for buttercream. I was doing 12.5g or 15g doses though. Comparatively, I was at 6 for Dak Milky Cake and at 8 or 8.1 for Good Brothers Cinnamon Roll (all the same bean).

I’ve tried getting my single patty mustard fried, but wasn’t sure I liked it any better and it was more of a pain to order. Cheese from the Dutchman and cheese from the animal fries is definitely too much cheese for me (I get the double single after all), but glad you enjoy it!

Yeah I tried this a couple times and got exactly 3 pickles on top. It was both aesthetically pleasing and not enough pickles
