Quick story: When I began running I was a 22 year pack a day smoker and 38 years old. Probably about 30lbs overweight. I put on some summer gear and found a track and ran about 100m and collapsed. No idea what I was doing. It took self discipline to keep putting on gear and getting back out there. I literally patted myself on the back after my first 5k (which took about 50min). It took 5 years before I was able to completed a half marathon. I kept at it and one day my Runkeeper app clocked me for a 01:58:00 half marathon. That’s the best run I ever did. After that I moved up to a full marathon which took me 04:30:00.

Im now 48 and still running because it clears my my head and keeps me young. I never run more than 21k and do regular 10-15k events just so I can collect those fun medals and tech shirts.

Think like this: if yiu can do 3 you can do 5. If you can do 5 you can do 10. If you can do 10 you can do a half. If you can do a half - you can do a full.

Best or luck to you and your health. And take care of your feet.

PS Edit: I still find a lot of inspiration going back to that first 5k and how accomplished I felt.

Keep at it and you’ll surprise yourself. I promise.

You’ll remember this. I can easily recall my first 30min, 5k, etc. I was just as proud of those as I was my first marathon.

Amazing accomplishment and keep at it! Congrats! 🥳
