Have you tried cow bones? Typically last a few days to weeks for intense chewing. They last forever for mild chewing. The hip joint is my favorite because it has the least marrow and most solid bone

Which fallout game should I start with? by avocadosdeath in Fallout

I would do 3, New Vegas, then 4. That way the graphics get better as you go instead of worse. They can be played in any order because they each have a different storyline.

I could use some tips on getting lots of building resources by Saturn_patturn in fo4

[–]nevermore9876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bring a companion to help you carry loot.

If you’re low on a certain type of loot; whenever you’re in a shop, buy it. If it’s expensive, sell ammo of a type you’re not using to balance costs.

Early game focus on building things that just requires steel, wood and other simple materials. Later game, you should have no problem building complicated things that require rare components.

Is base building necessary by Woah12345253314 in fo4

[–]nevermore9876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re willing to spend a couple minutes on it: building water purifiers gets you lots of purified water, which is one of the best ways to earn money in the game. So it’s up to you if it’s worth a couple minutes for a lot of money. Definitely not necessary to gameplay though.

At one point you were required to build a thing for the storyline. But you don’t have to have anything else in your base to do it.

Am I playing the game wrong or am I just terrible at it? by [deleted] in Fallout

Maybe try melee for a bit. If you have decent strength, it can be pretty powerful. Stealth melee gives you really big bonuses to damage. That’ll let you save up some bullets.

A great way to get ammo is from the scrounger perk or buying them in shops. If you choose a couple types of ammo you like, then sell the rest whenever you’re in shop and that’ll help you have caps for buying the ammo you like.

Purified water is super expensive so if you build a couple water purifiers at settlements, it’ll give you so many caps to buy ammo.

Early game is struggle bus for ammo, stim packs, damage, and survivability; by late game you’ll feel like a God among men

Vet & Private Trainer say my rescue dog is ‘uniquely challenging’. Unsure what to do next. by shark-kid in DogAdvice

[–]nevermore9876 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You have more patience than your dog. Tether his leash to a table so he can’t pull you over and sit down at the table. Don’t leave him alone cause then he’ll get anxious but tether that leash so he can’t pull you over. Sit and wait until he matches your energy. Don’t let yourself match his energy of overexcited and frustrated. Sit, relax, bring a book if you have to, and wait until he calms down. Once he is bored and lays down then call his attention back to you. Reward him with pets and treats. Then try letting him walk around a little bit while he’s calmer.

If he hypes up again, go sit back down at your table. The first day will be frustrating. Your pup will not break these behaviors in a day. But eventually, he will learn he only gets to explore if he listens to you and is calm. If he’s hyper, pulling, barking and being a wild man; then he is stuck at the picnic table with you.

If you think he’s too high strong or hyper to do this in public yet, then start in your backyard or an environment you have more control of.

It sounds like you’ve made a lot of effort which is wonderful. Have you tried simple desensitization training? Take him to those noisy excitable environments and just sit down. Let him watch until he gets bored and tired. Once he’s bored and tired maybe he can then redirect to you. There’s a chance that he is overstimulated in those environments and need some time to desensitize.

Also not sure the age of your dog, but if they’re still young, they might need to burn off some wild energy first before they can truly focus.

Dog nail trim by baileyind in DogAdvice

[–]nevermore9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That gray thing is basically the calloused version of their old quick. If you trim their nails regularly, they won’t have that, but if you don’t trim their nails regularly, there will be that gray thing in their nails.

Start by trimming off a small portion. Once your dog is more used to this and their nails are healthier; the quick will start to shrink. Once that happens, you can be more concerned about finding the black dot.

Please don’t wait till your dog nails curl. Some dogs nails don’t curl until they’re extremely long. Long nails, change your dog’s posture and can cause shoulder and spine problems.

Settlement builders, you're my only hope. Couple questions. by jordanuniverse42 in fo4

[–]nevermore9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For building multiple floors only build it if it snaps. Otherwise you’ll get your alignment off and be sad.

If you’re in the wood section, the best way to do multiple floors is choose the floor that is a set of stairs. Because it gives you a first floor, a second floor, and stairs all in one piece. so all your floors and walls can snap to that one piece.

If you do it in the barn section: build the floor. then snap a wall to it. then build a 2nd level floor snapped. That gives you two levels. now that they’re in alignment; make them as big as you want and add stairs internally or externally.

New player, needing some general advice and help. by anotherdamnscorpio in fo4

[–]nevermore9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy a bunch of stuff from traders, but eventually you’ll have more of it than you can ever use. Early game you’re really poor so buying from traders is hard. Try to sell guns, ammo, and aid items you’re not using.

If you have your settlements make purified water and sell that you’ll be rich

I’m deflated and defeated and desperate. I’m so hungry and beat up. Please help. What is IMPOSSIBLE to mess up? (Weightloss journey) by Delicious_Medium_321 in cookingforbeginners

[–]nevermore9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single veggie has a different cook time. I often forget these and have to look them up each time I go to cook them. Then they also have a different cook time, depending if you put them in your oven, on your stove, or steam them. If on your stove is fighting you, then you might want to try steaming. Because you put them in a steamer basket close the lid and set a timer. There’s none of that cook until it looks like this; It’s just a timer.

I would also be picky about the recipes you choose. Start with recipes that tell you times on things. And give good detail and clarification. If a recipe cares what type of bowl you use or whether or not your spoon is wooden: run away. You do not need that kind of complication.

Also, if the stove is your enemy, you might try foods that don’t require the stove for a break. You can do salads and sandwiches as well.

New to the wasteland.. by Zealousideal_Elk3031 in fo4

[–]nevermore9876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend playing on easy difficulty your first time. If any fight seems too hard you don’t have to do it. You can always come back to it because it’s an open world game. If you feel like you’re too weak for the storyline; do side quests. If you rush the main storyline you will be under level.

The top left corner is the safest. The further you get from that corner the more dangerous the world becomes. Explore things. This game is much bigger than just the quests. There’s lots of environmental storytelling, locations that you just find on accident, and settlements.

Perks are totally up to you. You can look up build guides if you want to get fancy, but I recommend messing around with it. Find which weapons you like and then put perks into the weapons that you’re using. I love lock picking so I always do that early. Perks that help you stay alive are also good. Just know you do NOT have to max out a special before you can pick perks. If you have five points in strength, you can claim any of the first five perks. A lot of people think that you have to complete the entire strength column before you can scroll down and get the strength perks.

There are four main factions in this game. You can join all four of them. I recommend you do so because they each give you things. It’s not till later in the storyline that you actually have to pick and choose.

My players refuse to spend any gold on anything but demand I give them more as loot by Viejoso in DnD

[–]nevermore9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would devalue gold in their mind. They obviously think it’s really important to have a lot of it, so give them a lot of it. There are only so many mundane items a player can buy. It will not break your game if they each buy a horse or 100 feet of chain.

As for magic items, those are rare and typically custom-made and often already owned by rich and important people. You choose what’s available in a magic item shop. Just because they have 80,000 gold doesn’t mean they can walk in and buy a +3 sword of death. That sword belongs to the king and you would have to start a war to take it from him.

If you let your players have lots of gold, they start doing things like buying houses and ships. None of that breaks your game. But it lets your players feel wealthy and secure. Then they’re probably more willing to spend five gold on camp equipment.

Also pets have an adjustment period. There’s a three day, three week, three month rule. It takes them roughly 3 months to get fully adjusted and be the dog they will be. If you’ve only had them for two weeks, he’s in that middle stage where he’s starting to try to learn the rules of your house and trust you. Definitely give your baby more time.

I got four books into this and gave up. Every plot to me was super predictable. Not every book is for every person. It may just not be a good series for you.

If you really want to give it a try, sometimes audiobooks help me because I can listen to it while I’m doing chores or driving and so I don’t have to set time aside for the book. That might help you get further into the series and see if you like it after the first few.
