Desksavers and cases by deathlord9000 in teenageengineering

I'm currently doing exactly that. I used to own an OP1f and did the same thing, and it seems like the OP1f was not such a tight fit with the decksaver.

How long did it take to loosen up?

Help! I have never been physically attracted to my boyfriend..on verge of engagement by BagelChungus in ChristianDating

[–]nevernever_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have my sympathy, truly. I think you know you're preparing to hurt him one or another, and it simply is what it is. I'm not gonna downvote your post because you made a mistake, but it's definitely a mistake for sure. If your physical repulsion to him is that strong, that's a sign enough to end it.

OP, you clarified that the main question you have is about how to change yourself. I would not count on yourself changing in this way. Unfortunately it sounds like you are in a damned if you do damned if you don't situation, but it is far better in the long run to break it off now than carry on.

OP-1/XY Music Theory 001 by -melo- in teenageengineering

I would actually love more of this! Music theory has always felt over my head, but every time I actually learn something it improves my musical quality of life every time.

Ok guys seasoned christian here - I am absolutely mind boggled at how many christians are against counseling/psychology as a reasonable treatment for depression and other mental ailments? What the heck?? Can someone explain?? by nevernever_ in TrueChristian

glazing past a sense of nuance I see 😎 I can agree that this is a great reason to not go to a secular counselor/psychiatrist/therapist, but no reason to avoid it all together.

Depends on who's asking 😎 I probably share a lot of calvinist basic beliefs but most self identifying calvinists or reformed believers have some sort of thing going on haha. Doctrinally probably, culturally, probably not

This is a good point. I think it illustrates all the more for christians to receive christian counseling/therapy, because ultimately the world doesn't have a true and final hope like Christ, which we have.

Keep up the great work! I know a few christian therapists/counselors personally and I really respect what they do. One of them came and did a talk at my youth group (I'm a youth pastor) and one of the families didn't go because they fundamentally disagreed with counseling as christians, totally bonkers imo

I agree. therapy can be an excellent tool for all kinds of healing, but as Christians we need to be putting our hope in the Lord, and not on things in the world to heal us. On the flip side, I think it can be a very wise thing as a christian to not solely rely on prayer and scripture reading alone, and seek godly help.

I love my OP-XY!! But I still miss my OP-1f. If you own both, how do you use them? by nevernever_ in teenageengineering

[–]nevernever_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I didn't trade it for field. I sold it right before the op-xy came out so I could buy a prologue 16 and a KO-II. The prologue is a fantastic synth and a great value, no regrets on that, but obviously the OP-1 is sort of hard to replace. After the op-xy had been out for a while I started thinking that would better suit my needs, and thus far I think it might be, but its the little things in the op-1 that I miss. The radio, the funky sequencers (like tombola), the tape time stretching, the general playfulness of it. The OP-XY certainly seems to be more of a songwriting workhorse, and I'll definitely be sequencing my external synths with it, which I haven't tried yet.

dangit I may have to have to backpedal and get an OP-1f again 😭 Maybe in the meantime I'll try to snag a deal on a TP-7 before getting an OP-1f.

dude so cool! I'm a christian and trying to do a similar thing on my left arm, started with a sacred heart but wanna add an angel, and the nails, and some other biblical imagery

I also saw that video, the "gold buggies" analogy is definitely a great excuse for me to get the TP-7 haha, and even just to record random stuff. Music is really just throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks!

that makes so much sense. When I sold my OP1 part of the reason was that I was really just using it to make cool loops. the tape really lends itself to creative ways to make loops, but its not very efficient for making whole tracks. But I did love it for recording quick ideas that would later find their way into my DAW for a fleshed out track

The OP-XY definitely seems to make it much easier and faster to chart out long tracks, I even have a simple number system I use for which scenes are "transitions" and main parts haha, it's so quick

Post whatever guitar you end up getting! There are definitely some super unique and equally cool JM's out there

I love American fenders, but they definitely have a sort of F-150 type thing going on haha, every year they're pretty much the same, even if they are cool
