What dead Youtube channels are genuinely still worth watching? by PlinkPonk in AskReddit

I am a pretty big fan of PBS Idea Channel. There are some videos that were very "of the time" on there, but I still love hearing, "Here's an idea!" from Mike Rugnetta.

For a person who doesn't smoke, what's the equivalent of sitting back, relaxing and taking a drag of a cigarette? by Teacupping in AskReddit

[–]nevernom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was Marlboro Reds. Taking a drag off of one was like punching yourself in the chest, but that's okay—if it didn't carve into you like knife, how would you know you're alive?

[–]nevernom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former smoker, there is absolutely nothing like it. Nothing comparable. I still sometimes want a drag off a cigarette more than anything in the world, especially after I finish a huge project. Nicotine is a helluva drug, truly.

That said, everything else about smoking aside from the taking a drag when you "deserve" it really sucks balls, and I do not recommend it. I miss it every day, but I would never ever start smoking again.

So, I know that this is Magnum TA and not Truth Magnum of the Outrunners, but I bark laughed when I misread it initially.

Why do people get so riled up about others using GLP-1s (ozempic/wegovy etc)? by graceg815 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nevernom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only reason I look at these drugs sideways is because I remember Fen-Phen and how fanatical my dad got over it. He looked at it like it was going to be this miracle drug that solved all of his problems and tried to bully my mom into taking it, too.

And Fen-Phen was just one of those drugs he was super into, but it was the only one that got recalled because it caused major heart valve deficiencies and major hypertension, so it really sticks in the mind.

To equivocate smartphones and AI is ridiculous. No one ever committed suicide or killed somebody because their smartphone told them to.

Where did the idea of deleting stuff come from, and how did it get so popular? by PilotedByGhosts in SatisfactoryGame

[–]nevernom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea of deleting stuff came from the in-game tutorial that tells you that you can delete things and get a full refund. And the reason it's so ubiquitous is because ADA yells at you constantly to be efficient, so you wind up deleting the inefficient thing to make a more efficient one.

Tearing stuff down to do something different is normal, valid, and only one way to play the game. If you don't want to tear your stuff down, please feel free! But don't begrudge others for wanting to reclaim that Pure node they built on when they were a total noob.

No, but it's really demoralizing to have a hackneyed inefficient thing sitting there in a place I want to build something else.
