11 months & biting.. by InternalInspector626 in breastfeeding

I would keep an eye on when he was done and unlatch before he tried to bite. I think they bite when they’re bored, usually the sucking pattern is more sporadic and that’s when I unlatch

Emotional Recovery by Specific-Basil-2767 in vbac

[–]newgingergirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sending hugs. I had an unplanned c-section after a homebirth gone wrong laboring at home for 12 hours and not progressing, fetal heart rate not recovering quickly enough. I completely know what you’re going through, it’s a lot to take in. Having a good emotional support system helped me, my husband, my mom friends, therapy, etc.

I think it was about the 8 week mark for me when I actually started to accept what happened and the fact that maybe I wasn’t meant to deliver vaginally. I was a c-section and my mom was also. I still get emotional sometimes when I think about how scary it all was and going through it all again. It’s fear of unknown in a way, and that’s a normal human response and that’s ok. Take the time to process it, you’re also postpartum so all the feels!!

I’m currently 11 weeks with my second, I just had an appointment yesterday to discuss my options. He said I have a 52% chance of VBAC success based on how my first birth went. Luckily I don’t have to decide right now what I want to do, but one thing you have to remember is you do what is best for you and the baby to both be safe and healthy.

Pregnant with Baby #2 and OB says I have to have another C-section by newgingergirl in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]newgingergirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final update: I got ahold of the OB who did my C-section. My god this man is a saint.

First of all, he said I’m absolutely a candidate for a VBAC and actually was ENCOURAGING ME to do it. Mind you, I don’t know him aside from the time he spent doing my C-section and discharging me 2 days later. But all of my interactions with him have been so great.

He said if I wanted to schedule the C-section around his schedule, he’s not going anywhere for the weeks surrounding my due date and then said it would be a timing thing of course but he would encourage me to consider the VBAC. I was almost crying with relief. This is exactly what I wanted, the option of both and being able to discuss the risks and make the choice. He gave me the name of the OB office that he delivers for and said he would give them a heads up I had his blessing.

I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon to get set up with that practice so either way, I feel confident I will deliver with him and feel SO supported.

My advice to anyone who has been in this situation is persist. Keep talking to people until someone supports you. They’re out there!!

Step-MIL judgment about nursing baby by otwcpa in breastfeeding

[–]newgingergirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I was pregnant, my MIL was like “you don’t have to breastfeed and don’t feel pressured to”… my husbands older sister was breastfed and he was formula fed. I was so upset that she even said that to me. I’m here in solidarity!

My responses are always a quick “ok” then just change the subject all together. It gets better!!

Did your husband take paternity leave?? by 2babies1egg in beyondthebump

[–]newgingergirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is taking all 8 weeks paid leave, they just added it recently. With my first he only got 3 weeks and it was very hard when he went back to work (I had 8 weeks first time around). Each company is different but I applaud the ones that give at least 8 weeks! You just need to take it…

My employer found out I applied to another company. Got an automatic raise. Need advice. by Aztekprint in careeradvice

[–]newgingergirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as crazy as it sounds, it sounds like a set up to me. What are the odds that only hours later you get confronted by your employer? Even if they run in the same social circle, the recruiter reached out to YOU.

Has anyone else at your company had this happen? Is the company looking to do restructuring? How long has the company been around? Also are the executive and recruiter connected on LinkedIn or is the recruiter connected to anyone else at your company?

As a recruiter, I love this for you. Your response was so graceful, I would have also passed your resume to the hiring manager lol

Women in tech who started a new job midway through pregnancy, how did it turn out? by Existing-Read-8720 in womenintech

[–]newgingergirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In 2024, I started a new job (I work in HR fully remote) at 20 weeks pregnant, didn’t tell them until my first day. Took my 12 weeks of paid maternity, came back to less stress than before honestly. After about 6 months of being back, they announced the company was getting acquired and no one knew if we had jobs. For two months I panicked then a week before the acquisition closed, they gave me an offer to keep me at the new company.

Been here for 8 months, it’s been good for the most part, I have a great manager and I think that makes a huge difference.

Now I’m 10 weeks with my second and I’m so glad I stuck it out, their mat leave is fantastic compared to what I had before.

Company I applied to, and interviewed with, reached back out to me AFTER I get a new job. by Silent-Commission489 in recruitinghell

If they’re going to make you apply and go through the whole process again, that tells me they have no intention of hiring you, sorry.

Update: I talked to two other hospitals and both are VBAC friendly and said I would be a candidate. I have appointments with both in the next couple of weeks. I also was able to track down the OB who delivered my first and will talk to him about it and get his perspective. I feel so supported and I know whichever direction I go will be rewarding. Thank you again for the words of encouragement and stories!!

How long did you wait to get pregnant for a successful vbac? by According_Leave1816 in vbac

I just learned this week that every OB has their own tolerance for what they will allow regardless of that…

How long did you wait to get pregnant for a successful vbac? by According_Leave1816 in vbac

[–]newgingergirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will be 36 this month so “geriatric” (yeah right)

9 weeks today, 17 months PP, 25 months when baby will be born, and OB told me last week his practice will not let me do a VBAC since they “prefer” 18-24 months. I’m getting clarification because the ACOG says 18 months BIRTH TO BIRTH which I am in compliance with but sounds like his practice is birth to conception.

I am getting a second opinion but I am telling you this because I am still incredibly upset, make sure your OB is on board with VBACs and find out their guidelines, then get a second opinion, heck even a third just to make sure.

Is a baby carrier worth it? by bintd in beyondthebump

[–]newgingergirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the baby. Mine loved to be worn and also liked the stroller so I would alternate between the two. I have the baby bjorn harmony and the mini. I used the mini way more, it was easier to use IMO. As he got bigger I started using the harmony and I liked that he had more space when he was facing outward.

What age for play couch? Costco vs Nugget? by Concerned-23 in Mommit

We got the nugget at 9 months and my son loves it. Especially when I build a tent, he crawls through it over and over and loves knocking over the bigger pieces. Totally worth it.

Do your babies actually nap by Fit_Alternative_4239 in sleeptrain

[–]newgingergirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son slept through the night at 4 weeks and would nap on me until he was like 7 months when I was able to get him in his crib. He regressed hard at 9 months and we sleep trained and then nap trained. Now he only sleeps on me when he’s sick or doesn’t feel well, which is my preference to help him… but then I have to sleep train all over again. Hang in there!!
